Should you have Milk?
Confusion is natural because, since childhood, our parents never told us that it was an option. We were told that we must consume it. Parents who don't force their kids to have milk are perceived in a bad light, hence the FOMO continued.
“If nature wanted us to drink milk, our mother would have never stopped lactating“.
Milk that you get is snatched from cows that they made for their calf. Even those calf stops feeding after a few months (after getting grown teeth). Only humans drink milk from other animals on this planet.
So what, cats and dogs also love milk?
Only domesticated cats and dogs have milk and that's too because we provide them, there is a rise in cancer among them too. You would never see a cat or dog milking cattle in the wild.
But then why did our Vedas mentioned milk?
It was prescribed for people who lacked pitta (acid) and could not produce enough acid to digest food. In today's time, most of us have more pitta dosha (acid and inflammation) than ever.
So why now all this drama, why science community promoted milk for 100 years?
Milk was always a local and personal choice. People used to have pet cows for various reasons (think cow dung cake), and they only consumed a surplus of milk as a choice.
Since the industrial revolution, the Dairy Farmer Association (DFA) started forming, and they started forcing the government to promote dairy products. The government then funded research for dairy farmers.
Growth factor hormones such as bovine somatotropin (bST & rbST), Insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-1) and Oxytocin are injected to increase milk and meat production. Cattle are injected with bST daily to make them release and increase milk. Oxytocin is a water-soluble hormone, other hormones are fats soluble. Milk is a concoction of fat, protein, carbohydrates, and water that's why all those injected hormones pass through in the milk.
India is the worst case because the dairy industry is not regulated, and all the low-cost cheap hormones get sold in local markets. Antibiotics that are banned in many nations are being sold in kg here.
My parents had milk their whole life, never had a pet cow, and they seem okay. Why should it bother me?
These hormones injection have become mainstream only in the last 20 years. A 30 rupees oxytocin injection promises them 20l of milk. India has become a diabetes hub because of insulin resistance (including your parents). IGF-1 hormone makes people super insulin resistant. Thats why diabetes, PCOS, and fatty liver is on the rise.
There is a rise in small intestine inflammation due to this milk that prevents Vitamin B12, B9 and Iron absorption. Today's stress level and lifestyle add to this inflammation and then the whole gut remains irritated, causing multiple deficiencies and an Autoimmune disease type of inflammation throughout the day.
“Mild or strong everyone who consumes the milk these days has some sort of Inflammation in their gut“.
