LinkedIn forced me into a week-long “celibacy” from the platform.
Here’s a breakdown of what actually happened.
LinkedIn started restricting my account due to huge activity (I comment a lot).
The restrictions lasted:
– 24 hours
– 48 hours
– 72 hours
– 168 hours (a full week)
⚠️ Technical support told me that this activity is detected by an automated system, and for individual accounts, they won’t manually remove restrictions, regardless of account size.
⚠️ LinkedIn can also limit certain features on your profile. E.g. a week ago, my “Featured” section disappeared for a moment. More people confirmed this.
If I continue at the same pace, future restrictions could last 2 weeks, a month, or even lead to permanent removal.
It escalates.
My account is now being monitored more sensitively for activity.
Here’s my plan for the next month to ease things up:
→ I’ll post a maximum of 2 – 4 times per week
→ I’ll write no more than 20 – 30 comments per day
→ I’ll be more careful with replying to DMs and sending/accepting connection requests
I really want to respond to everyone, so my replies will be spread out over several days.
This ban actually had 2 positive effects for me:
1. I spent less time on LinkedIn
2. It inspired me to code a preventative tool and learn programming
Wish me luck so I can stay on this platform as long as possible.
Really like it here because of you.
