If there's one thing dads don't need, it's more time off work

It's February 2025, and this is a headline issued in a national British newspaper.

IS THIS SERIOUSLY HAPPENING IN 2025?

As you can likely tell by the CAPS on this post (!), it struck a nerve for me. At Bold Bean Co | B Corp™, we're building the kind of workplace I wish existed everywhere - one where parenthood isn't seen as a “mum thing.“

Having an enhanced pay for 13 weeks is extremely expensive for a small start up like Bold Bean. But we've got it in place.

Here's why we give equal parental leave to ALL parents:
1️⃣ Kids deserve time with both parents
2️⃣ Partners deserve equal support in those precious early days
3️⃣ The gender pay gap won't fix itself - we need to level the playing field
4️⃣ There is an unconscious bias applied when hiring women of a certain age (aka, me lol) - we need to level the playing field

And finally - we're tackling the mental load (something which also drives women out of the workforce).

Two weeks paternity leave ➡️ Partner returns to work ➡️ Mother manages everything at home ➡️ Mental load begins ➡️ Burnout/resentment/overworking ➡️ should I just quit my job?

NO.

Most modern men I know would thoroughly disagree with this headline. They want to be present. They want to bring up their children. They want to support their partners.

I'll leave you with this: “You cuddle your baby with arms, not your uterus“
