2019 Reflections

As the year draws to a close a few reflections (this was an inflection year for me as I moved on from Myntra, took a 6 month sabbatical, invested into and joined Medlife). We also took a step back as a family, decided that we wanted to live in India the next 10 years as the kids grow up.. so..my reflections

1. Enjoy the journey. As I get older, classic external markers of success seem less important. Enjoying living life and working (solving problems) is critical to happiness

2. Live your life now. Don’t postpone that holiday. Don’t miss your child’s play. Life cannot be postponed

3. Surround yourself with positive people with a can do attitude. Attitude matters as much if not more than just competence. Culture is key to success

4. Professionally where to play matters. Pick up a big market, a difficult problem and then stay at it for multiple years. Excited about health and all the problems we can solve Medlife International

5. Technology. Embrace it personally and solve large problems with a “product” mindset. The key to tech led disruptions is that the non tech people start thinking product first!

Looking forward to 2020. Happy holidays!

Mensa @ 2
Happy second birthday Mensa Brands Like they say about bringing up children, the days are long but the years fly by- it’s the same at Mensa - it’s been a true privilege to build Mensa and to see it grow and scale

In two short years we have

1. 20 plus incredible brands and 3 content platforms. A chance at being able to build 10 (or more) household names is the reason for our existence

2. An incredible team now 800 strong- the best that I have seen and a true joy to be around - we have good days and bad days but we enjoy each other and we learn from each other

3. It’s still very much Day 1. Lots to do. Building for the next 50 plus years. Many brands to build and many more to partner with !

A deep sense of gratitude to the team, the brand founders, our investors and the extended eco system

Look toward to the next 50! Thank you team Mensa - and now back to building :)

Merging Medlife with Pharmeasy
Late 2020, Prashant and I decided to merge Medlife with API which would help create the largest e Heath player in the market
The API team has a terrific track record of growth, with a great list of investors and terrific founders. The overlap in customers was low. Joining hands could lead to a lot more capital coming into the market leader who could then help build out the industry.
Excited about the future and the next phase of growth of the combined entity and look forward to cheering on from the sidelines (and as a small shareholder!)
While it’s early days the interest from investors, and the fund raise from TPG have been promising.
A huge call out to Prashant, Tushar and perhaps most important the team at Medlife. Your grit and resilience and can-do attitude got us here.
Intense journey over the last 18 months. Good outcome for all. Now onwards and upwards to new adventures
