Vijay Mallya on a podcast would be the last thing anyone expected & his appearance has EXPOSED old media

For the first time in 9 years, he told his side of the story.
And whether or not you believe him, one line stood out:

ā€œNobody asked me what really happened. They just decided I was guilty.ā€

This post isn’t about clearing his name.
It’s about calling out the machine that made his name into clickbait.

Old media didn’t wait for facts.
They ran TRPs.
They built outrage.
They handed you a villain and said, ā€œBelieve this.ā€

But here’s what’s changing:

YouTubers are asking better questions than anchors ever did.
Podcasters are giving more context than entire newsrooms.
Creators are spending hours digging into what the news never bothered to unpack.

And they’re doing it without scripts, sponsor filters, or network agendas.

New media is doing what old media forgot: Telling the truth, without turning it into a circus.

So no, this post isn’t about one man’s redemption. It’s about a bigger revolution:

The story is no longer controlled by studios.
It’s in the hands of storytellers.

And honestly, that’s the kind of India we deserve.

Indore has blown me away!

Probably the most underrated city in the country!

Three things about Indora that leave Mumbai, Bangalore, and Delhi behind:

1. The realty boom - In 2021, Indore's residents earned more than 1600 crore from properties. Apart from cleanliness, the main reason behind this boom is the ongoing development of the metro rail project, road connectivity, airport expansion, and other infrastructural developments are attracting investors.

2. Indore's nightlife and food business:

If you haven't eaten in Indore yet, what have you done? The food business here is insane! Some popular places for nightlife in Indore are Sarafa Bazaar and Chappan Dukan. Food is like a religion here!

3.The waste management system:

Indore has been awarded the Cleanest City Award for the past five years, but you will find few garbage bins here despite being the cleanest city because the waste management system here is fantastic. They decompose the waste or use it in the form of Bio CNG, which fuels more than 150 buses in the city!

Apart from this, there are top-quality hospitals and educational institutes like IIM and IITs and so much more to do.

I can’t believe we don't talk about this city more often!

Have you been to Indore? Thoughts?

Did influencers pay 20L to attend Cannes?

As expected, once again there are people despising influencers for achieving something that’s meant for super world-famous people. As someone who attended the Cannes Film with Sharan, let me tell you what it takes to walk the red carpet:

The first question you might have is ā€œCan anyone pay & attend the Cannes Festival?ā€

Well, if that were the case the event would be filled with rich spoilt GenZ Influencers who just have rich parents.

Of course, that’s not the case. You first need to be selected. Just like how you can’t just buy a Rolex or a Ferrari from the store, similarly, you need to deserve the honour of being invited to Cannes.

And guess what only a handful of Indians out of 150 Crore Indians were selected to come! It shows that no matter what your background is or who your parents are, you can still make it to a platform like Cannes if you’re great at building a distribution and creating impact. Fame and impact have truly been democratised and this year’s Cannes Film Festival is proof of it.

- The perception that Cannes is no longer an invite-only event or that influencers have paid their way onto the red carpet is not accurate.Ā Ā You are not buying a film ticket here.
- Cannes remains an invite-only festival, and all the influencers present were either formally invited or had to go through a rigorous pitching process.Ā
- Most of our creators were rejected, with only a handful being selected to attend.

Influencers and celebrities typically do not pay for their attendance and associated expenses out of pocket.

Instead, brand partner enablE their participation, covering costs such as travel, accommodations, and event access.

For example, Sobhita Dhulipala has credited Magnum for facilitating her Cannes experience, while Jacqueline Fernandez credited BMW.

Are you telling me these celebrities also paid and do not deserve to be there?Ā
Each and every creator you saw at Cannes are pioneers in their own niche and deserves to be where they are.

Rather than questioning their deservingness or making assumptions about payments, we should celebrate the recognition Indian talents are receiving on a global stage like Cannes.

Now you might think that it’s unfair that celebrities and influencers are getting stuff for free. I don’t blame you. It’s okay to feel envious and jealous but nobody said the world is a fair place. This is a dog eat dog world and power law in content creation is always going to be the law of the jungle- meaning 10% of influencers will make 90% of the money.

So you can either feel bitter about Indian influencers attending Cannes and question their credibility but you and I both know you’re only doing that to make yourself feel better.

The Indian Creator Economy is on the global map today and that is a one-of-a-kind achievement we should collectively be proud of. It’s one small step for these influencers but a giant leap for Indian youth’s global representation.šŸ‡®šŸ‡³

I’m launching a WhatsApp community to solve the #1 problem in any business…

ā€œEverything is everywhereā€

As someone who runs a content marketing company and works with creators every day, I know one thing for sure:

We’re always on the lookout for talent, opportunities and so on.

And most of that still happens through DMs, group chats, and ā€œknow someone good?ā€ texts.

I’m not the only one, every founder friend I know is hiring, scouting, or asking around.

Meanwhile, some of the best creators, freelancers, and operators I know are still waiting for the right opportunities to come their way.

So I’m creating a space to bring both sides together withĀ a WhatsApp-based creator community.

For creators, to-be-creators, talent managers, agency leads, writers, editors, and founders.

A space where:

– Founders can hire faster
– Creators can find real work
– Managers can fill campaigns
– Writers, editors, and freelancers can get matched with the right teams
– Campaigns, collabs, and content ops to actually get done

If this sounds like something you want to be a part of, comment ā€œADD MEā€ below.

(Invite-only, limited to people serious about creating and building)

And if we do this right, it might just be the most useful group chat in the creator economy šŸ™Œ

2 years ago, I was working 12 hours a day, with 0 team members & barely making any money.

Cut to now, leading a team of 35 people, partnering with top brands, working with 500+ creators, and networking with high-net-worth individuals.

Here are 6 things I'd tell my 20-year old self [who felt clueless at times]

šŸ’”You can’t do it all alone.

If you want to grow your business, then you need to grow your team too.

In the initial days, it is easy to be a solopreneur; however, with an increase in business, one needs more help.

šŸ’”Learning is a never-ending process.

No matter which industry I was in previously, I had to ensure to be updated with all the new information.

Maintaining relevance is essential if you want to be on the top of your game.

šŸ’”Have big goals in life.

Don’t let your logical mind block your creativity & aspirations.

Dream as big as you want & then break down that goal into small steps.

This way, you will not overwhelm yourself & take 1 step at a time towards your goal.

šŸ’”Patience is your biggest asset.

In this world of short-form content with a high dopamine rush, we are losing our ability to focus for long.

Sadly, with a shorter attention span to work, we are also cultivating limited patience. Don’t let it ruin your dreams.

šŸ’”Personal branding gives you an edge.

In the early days of my career, my LinkedIn profile has helped me connect with some of the biggest names in the industry.

It undoubtedly speaks volumes for you & creates a massive impression when looking for opportunities.

šŸ’”Routine is the key to everything

Things have only gotten better ever since I tried to schedule my work hours, me time, family time, and workout hours.

It has increased my productivity, and I can also better manage my energy.

These lessons are worth a million if you apply them in your life.

Remember, your past & where you come from don’t define/decide your future, but your hard work does.
