Last year, I left a seven-figure consulting job to start up.
After 2.5 years of very cushioned job at Bain & Company, I decided to leave and start my AI company.
Here's the thing about Bain - it cradles fresh graduates like a baby with all the team lunches, offsites, 5-star hotels, and feedback mechanisms.
It makes you feel heard and cared for; no wonder Bain has always topped all the best employer charts.
So yes, everything was going well so why did I decide to leave and go the opposite direction of entrepreneurship?
Back in November 2022, ChatGPT had just been released and everyone was just beginning to get amused by this toy.
Open AI made the very smart decision to partner with Bain. What better way to rope in big enterprises and Fortune 500 as your users other than partnering with a consulting company?
And while all this was happening at Bain, we were getting to witness the actual unlocking of Generative AI for enterprises beyond just ChatGPT.
We were one of the initial cohorts that learned to know the difference between GPT and ChatGPT.
We were seeing use cases across functions and industries and for someone who always wanted to have something of their own, it felt like the right time to do that.
Hear me out, with every Open AI announcement, the API costs were getting cheaper, and models were just getting better.
People in the tech circles were describing it as reminiscent of the 90s when the Internet era had just begun.
There were early adopters and nay-sayers; there were optimists and pessimists; it got people excited and fearful at the same time.
But while 100 ideas were going through our minds, we didn't want to become victims of bloodshed that would happen after every Open AI/Google/Microsoft announcement i.e., make another wrapper.
Hence we decided to do what we know best - consult people.
When the pace of innovation is so rapid, you need experts who will help business owners cut through the clutter and give personalized advise.
From this thought, YouseAI was born as an AI consulting and implementation firm. Idea was simple - to help early adopters find use cases for their business and develop POCs for them.
The decision to leave the plush job was hard but in hindsight, it was so worth it!
