I am excited to share the news that KPMG and Microsoft have agreed to a major expansion of our relationship—working together to accelerate the deployment of cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) and innovative technologies to help our clients.
Four years ago, Satya and I sat down to discuss how we were strengthening our alliance after a substantial agreement that would solidify each of our organization’s capacity to expedite our client’s digital transformations. What we couldn’t have known then was how important the timing would be. Only months later the world would enter lockdown and fight a global pandemic.
People and businesses would need to lean on novel technologies to help overcome challenges. New technology—from vaccine development and deployment to cashless payment, collaboration tools and ecommerce and so much more—helped a lot of people and kept things running for many. To me, it’s a lesson that we can’t ignore, especially given the pace of change happening all around us.
So today, KPMG and Microsoft have again agreed to an industry-leading collaboration that has the potential to reshape our profession but also help us and our clients forge a new path that is more resilient, agile, and sustainable.
With this agreement, our 265,000 talented people will remain on the cutting-edge of innovation. We’ll work together, harnessing the full breadth of our global network, to adopt and proactively integrate the latest technologies by staying true to the values and culture that has made KPMG a trusted advisor and business partner for so many.
Fulfilling the promise that any new technology represents, including AI, takes courage. People need to learn new skills, understand how it can be utilized and develop trust with new toolsets—all of which can be challenging. But if the recent lessons of our unpredictable world are of any guidance, technology can and will help so many people overcome obstacles, capture opportunity, and build a better future.
I’m proud to be working together with Microsoft and eager for KPMG to help build that future. Together. For Better.
