I remember when trying to get my first job in tech I finally found one company that I just absolutely loved. It aligned with everything I was looking for. I killed the interview. EVERY round.
Made it to the final round, killed that interview, even had the director LAUGHING with me. He ended the interview saying “You will definitely be hearing from us!“ and patted me on the back. I never felt so happy. I got home and literally told my entire family “Gas station days are over!“ I was so geeked out. I started cooking steaks and poured drinks. It was AMAZING.
2 hours later
I got a phone call.
They... They didn't want me. My mind was literally racing. They kept talking but it was just sounds at that point, nothing that I could understand. My face immediately dropped, I couldn't string words together. I became so pale I could give Casper the ghost a run for his money. Put my phone down on the kitchen counter, couldn't even find the strength to turn off the stove, and walked like a zombie to my bed. I laid in that bed for 2 days.
I had never been so sick in my life. One of the first times in my life I had ever called out of work. My eyes could only see that director's smile, it was so warm. It was a good reminder that a warm smile can also burn.
LITERALLY, the best thing that NEVER happened to me. Not even a week later I was in the interview which ended up becoming my first job in tech which led to everything that came out after.
I am a big believer that sometimes the universe SEES things, HEARS things, or WITNESSES things that you may not have seen and it removes it from you, maybe even painful in the moment but it may be what you NEED vs what you WANT.
Shared this with a bootcamp in their discord so I figured I would share it here as well. Hope you got value out of this.
