I have no idea why so many people think that NY will take forever to come back.
NY is the greatest city on the planet and will always bounce back faster than any other place. How many people love this city as much as I do?

It's Juneteenth AND Father's Day so I had to bring this post back again. There's never a bad time to salute these Black men who are making Black history as we speak!! They go by the name of Dads on Duty.

The days when American families could live off a single income are behind us. Both parents have to work, and we now trust that the teachers and police will raise our kids for us, but in reality, it’s still OUR job!! #DadsonDuty realized that there’s no room for complaining or blaming, and decided to step up to the plate themselves. šŸ’ŖšŸ¾

When most of us grew up, we were taught that if we got in trouble in the neighborhood, another parent could discipline us. Then, when we got home, we knew it was going to be 2 times the punishment! One ass whooping for whatever we did wrong, and another for embarrassing our mothers! šŸ˜‚

Now with many of us working virtually, we have the ability to once again take back our neighborhood and re-invest in our most precious assets: our kids AND our community. šŸ™ŒšŸ¾ Now that I think of it, this is a no-brainer!! Imagine how much violence, drug abuse, school absence and disrespect for authority would be eliminated from EVERY community if we knew our Mothers and Fathers were right outside our classroom! I think this influence could lead to less gun violence in schools as well when people have that mentorship and the thought that there are some potentially strapped up Dads hanging around the school.

Thank you Dads on Duty. šŸ™šŸ¾ Again, if there is any way I can help. I’m here for you.

Happy Father's Day!
DJ

Excuses? Can’t find them.

So many times we get caught in the ā€œwhy me?ā€ ...instead of focusing on closing the door on our excuses and opening it up to action.

#ShoutoutSaturday (IG: aldridgelogan)
If we all gave up because someone else was in the same lane as us, we wouldn’t have the world we do now.

Whether it’s a friend, a celebrity, a business owner, an athlete, we all need someone to spark something in us that says ā€œI want that for my lifeā€

It’s important to remember this though – on your journey, whatever it might be, don’t compare yourself to your heroes and other people who seem to be on the top of that game.

What you should do is pick their strategies apart, learn from them, and then pave your own path.

A lot of you may disagree with me on this.
-
I didn’t quit my job as a waiter at Red Lobster until I was 4 or 5 years deep into FUBU. Sure, I gradually put less time into Red Lobster and more time into FUBU, but I stayed with it until I was sure I wanted to go all in and that it was going to be worth it. If something were to happen to FUBU, I would always have my other job to fall back on just in case. Thankfully, everything worked out in the end, but I’m glad I did it the way I did because it allowed me to ease into it and harness the #PowerOfBroke.

Let me hear your thoughts on this.

Mindset is everything.

In order to chase after the things you want, you have to be willing to change your viewpoint.
Switch your negatives to positives and see how much it affects your goal setting.

Go into the week like a winner.

Today and every day, we remember the lives that were lost on 9/11.

I took this video of the memorial on this day two years ago and each time I watch it, I’m reminded of the strength our country showed and the bravery of the first responders who rushed to help.

The strong will stay that way forever.

Make adjustments, not excuses.

Don’t let excuses paralyze you from taking action towards achieving your goals.

Things rarely go as planned and it’s likely that something will come up that totally throws you off course at one point or another. Instead of making excuses that will hinder you from achieving success, focus on what adjustments you can make to help keep the momentum going.

It doesn’t matter how many adjustments you need to make, as long as you’re determined to remain on track towards teaching your goals.

Leave a šŸ™ŒšŸ¾ if you’re with me and done making excuses

5 things that I would tell my younger self:

1 - Start earlier
2 - Fear is an illusion
3 - Learn financial intelligence as soon as possible
4 - Live in the moment
5 - Your circle means everything. Keep it tight and true.

I hope at least one of these inspires you to do the same starting now.

What’s something you’d tell your younger self?

I have always loved myself!
But it took me so long to really trust myself. I know I’m not alone when I say this.
It took till my early 30s to finally trust my gut and it has always worked out in my best interest. No matter how good it looks on paper, in person, smells, or even if everyone tells you its what ā€œTHEYā€ think you should do. Trust your gut and it will never lead you wrong! I know I’m not alone in this thinking.
Who can relate? Talk to me....

Don’t let the fear of failure keep you from moving forward. You are in control of your own destiny.

Keep making progress and take the leap!

šŸ˜‚ There really is no perfect time. Sometimes you’ve just got to take a leap of faith in yourself and go for it.

But part of making sure that leap is a success (and so you don’t fall flat on your face) is by setting actionable, attainable goals.

If you want to take action and get a head start on your 2020, I'm giving you all of my goal setting tips for free here:

Just like in everything else in life, you need to be responsible, including taking care of yourself.

Every day I challenge you to do something that makes you happy. Whatever it is – if you need me to tell you all a dad joke, I’ll do it! As long as I know you guys aren’t taking life too seriously and are remembering the things that are important: your health.

So my friends, let’s keep this trend going. How are you feeling? Anything you want to talk about?

Let’s get the positivity going in the comments šŸ‘‡šŸ¾

I’ve made it a point once a week to look back at how far I’ve come...not just to remind myself, but to inspire you all.\n\nThis was taken during the really early days of working out of my home with my partners, building FUBU from the ground up. There were plenty of ups and downs in the beginning, and it took a minute to find our footing on the path to success, but man, when it all came together, it’s something that turned out to be bigger than our wildest dreams.\n\nTake a minute tonight to look back at how far you’ve come and start visualizing where it is you want to go. It’s all possible.

Shark Tank was nearly canceled in the first 12 months. It kept getting moved to bizarre scheduling slots, but I and the other sharks persevered and relentlessly worked to make the show a success while fighting to make the best investments in entrepreneurs. I don't care how many times you fail, see it through to the end.

You are 100% in control of your life.

There may be times when you feel like you’ve plateaued, but don’t get stuck thinking there’s nothing you can do about it.

Life is all about getting out of your comfort zone, so don’t let fear or discomfort hold you back.. Only you have the power to make the changes you want to see!

If you’re ready to take on this week with all you’ve got, leave a ā€œšŸ‘ŠšŸ¾ā€ below!

Do you think I wasn’t scared when I started @Fubu ? Became a Father? Wrote my first book? Started public speaking? Stepped on the Shark Tank stage? decided to battle cancer? And so many other things.
Of course I was!
And many of the other things I haven’t mentioned are some of my biggest failures.
That means that fear of failing and embarrassing myself actually happened.
My initial reaction to my failures was embarrassment.
But after some time. I realized nobody else cared, and it was all in my head.
I have never looked back since then. And today, whenever I have fear. I keep in mind the old quote by:
Christopher Paolini.…
ā€œWITHOUT FEAR, THERE CAN NOT BE COURAGEā€
So, as you get ready for the week ahead, I encourage you to embrace your fears, take action, and push through. I know I will.
Because is what makes the difference between Dreamers and achievers.
Have a Great Week šŸ’ŖšŸ¾

This comment by my guy @garyvee is absolute gold! We often get crazy comments from both strangers and friends on social media.
We are all human and some of the comments can really bother us from time to time. But when you look at it through this lens, instead of lashing out at them, you will find yourself feeling sorry for others and hopefully reaching out to them to understand and help them with their struggles. Next time someone says something crazy, think about this post and you will be surprised at how you respond.

Remember: failure is just learning a smarter way to start over again.
If you don’t set goals for yourself, you will keep drifting away from your desired end point.

I look at my goals every night before bed so they’re the last thing I think about and every morning when I wake up so they’re the first thing I think about.

So make it a goal to write your goals to keep yourself accountable and on track.

About last night!
When the @ufc hits NY. It is really a star studded event. The fights were insane! And way to many stars in the house to mention.
However, I did catch up with my long time friend @sylvesterstalloneofflcial
and we reminisced about the good ol days. We even took this pic of me giving Rocky an uppercut.

PS: Now you know I am straight up LYING about being Stallone’s friend. Right? šŸ¤¦šŸ¾
That man has never met my lying ass before last nightšŸ˜‚.
I sat across from him for an hour and fanned out until I got enough nerve to say hello. And to my surprise, he said he was a fan of mine as well. Wow! The man that I grew up watching as Rocky, Rambo, Judge Dread and so many other films is a fan of mine?? God Is Truly GoodšŸ™šŸ¾.
What a blessing!
More importantly, I love the feeling of being a fan when I see certain people.
I actually think it’s an asset when it comes to success.
I will never be too cool to be a fan of someone, learn from someone or be impressed by someone or something. I hate when certain people act like they have seen it all, know it all and done it all. The day that happens to me, I guess there will be nothing else to live for.
Until then, I will continue to cherish every moment like this and remain thirsty for what tomorrow brings. I hope you do the same.
Happy Sunday,
DJ

Thank you Ufc and @danawhite for such a great night.

The best way to be excited about meeting the person that you will become tomorrow is by making sure you learn something new today and every day after that.
It’s a very simple concept. But you will be shocked at how many people don’t grasp it.
Don’t be one of them.

We’ve all been seeking help from leaders and people of certain credibility to get a better hand on what’s happening in the world, which just proves that life is a series of mentors.

Don’t stop trying to find people that you can learn and grow from.

Is there someone right now you want to be your mentor? Good, send them a personal message asking them to do so. And in turn, what you may be able to offer them.

I’ve mentored lots of people in the past, they’ve always taught me things at the same time.

Start taking this period in our lives to make steps towards a better future for yourself.
Do what you love šŸ™ŒšŸ¾

What do I love? Providing you all with value every single day.

I'm always looking for better ways to do just that, including how to communicate with me.

So I opened up a brand new messenger channel with better access to my resources when you need them, like my free email marketing map.

Let me know how you all enjoy it! Access it here: https://bit.ly/2zY5XcV

I know what racism and bigotry feels like.

Like thousands of Americans who look like me, I’ve been profiled time and time again in stores. Although it’s a frustrating and humiliating experience, it’s an easy fix: Don’t spend money where you don’t feel respected.

Other forms of racism and bigotry, however, are much harder to deal with.

I still remember that chilling feeling of having to stare down the barrel of a cop’s gun for the ā€œcrimeā€ of trying to sell hats and t-shirts on the street.

However, you don’t necessarily have to be a direct victim of something to know it’s wrong and shouldn’t be tolerated.
ā€œYou are what you eatā€ is applicable to a lot more than food.

I received a lot of polarizing comments in response to my post about quiet vacationing, so I wanted to keep the conversation going with more of my thoughts on the subject.

There are many reasons people leave jobs. The #1 reason is feeling unappreciated. Other reasons include:

Low pay
Poor company culture
Glass ceilings
Better opportunities
Toxic co-workers
Wanting more time with family
Unsafe work environments
The list goes on.

I've left my fair share of jobs while climbing the ladder. But no matter how disrespected I felt, I always kept it professional, leaving with dignity and class. That’s why I can’t understand the new trend of quiet quitting.

Why cut off your nose to spite your face? What many don’t realize is that most bosses have seen it all and heard it all.

When team members leave my company, I’m usually happy for them and grateful for the time they dedicated to being part of my world. In return, I love cheering them on in their future endeavors whenever possible. Maybe that’s why I have such a high return rate.

That’s why I find the mindset behind quiet quitting so perplexing. It doesn’t hurt anyone but the person doing it. šŸ¤·šŸ¾ā€ā™‚ļøšŸ¤¦šŸ¾ā€ā™‚ļø

At first glance, it may appear that this massive man is intimidating me. And to be honest, HE IS!
However, Grim is pushing me the way a true friend who believes in you will push you. A true friend pushes you outside your comfort zone to do things you never imagined you could do.
The same way Mickey and Adrian would push Rocky.
On the other hand, like many of my close friends. He also dares to check me when I’m arrogant or making decisions based on my ego.
Grim has been my executive protection for the past twenty-five years. He is an ex-Navy Seal who fearlessly served our country and put his life on the line countless times for me, my family, and my company.
Not only is his size and combat expertise incredibly impressive, but his unwavering dedication and intelligence are even more so. He has now transitioned from being my executive protection to taking charge of logistics and ensuring the safety of my family and team if needed.

My wife @heather__john is the biggest Janet fan ever. Before all this madness, she made me take her to a Janet concert in Vegas a couple of months ago. I was surprisingly and pleasantly star struck.
Janet’s songs and dances took me back to so many special times in my past. It reminded me of the times when I had nothing but a dream and a will to win!
This is my fan boy footage. I think I had a better time than my wife!Thank you Janet for creating the soundtrack of our lives. You are truly a living legend.
Wishing you so much health, safety and love.

I know her Bday was technically yesterday. But you are never too late to give somebody their flowers while they are still with us.
How many of you love her as much as we do?
Always, always be paying it forward.

When I was growing up, I never imagined a moment in time when I would be able to offer such a sizable donation to help my community. It didn’t even seem possible when I first started FUBU...but let me tell you, when I was finally able to do it, it felt incredible.

Giving to others isn’t solely about donating money either - there are plenty of ways to give back. You can be someone’s mentor, perform an act of kindness, volunteer... the possibilities are endless, but they all leave you feeling pretty damn great.

How have you helped out your community recently?
