Good news for international students 🇺🇸

The newly proposed $100,000 fee for new H‑1B petitions will not apply to petitions filed by students already inside the U.S. on F‑1 visas who are applying for a change of status to H‑1B - according to updated guidance from USCIS.

That means: if you’re on OPT or STEM‑OPT, this rule doesn’t affect you. The fee primarily applies to new petitions filed from outside the U.S.

For many international students, this isn’t just relief, it’s stability.
When immigration rules shift overnight, job‑search anxiety doubles: “Will my offer still stand? Can I even stay?”

As someone who’s helped thousands of job seekers through Jobright.ai, I’ve seen the ripple effects of policy‑shocks.
This update doesn’t fix everything, but it does rebuild confidence for both candidates and employers.

One step at a time.
