My mom never even made 20k a year in her life, she worked as a custodian cleaning up after people for years. I would talk to her about her dreams and aspirations, she had many… but they never felt feasible to her.
In my life I’ve felt this responsibility to make it and live out my dreams to the fullest. Not just for my mom but for everyone who felt like they didn’t have the ability to do so.
At Kickstarter I feel fortunate everyday to be working at a company that’s helping give resources to people to bring their creative visions to life and even possibly create a new career path for them, to do something they’re passionate about.
Yesterday I was in conversation with Ellen McGirt from Fortune and we spoke about my personal journey, and I feel so grateful to have the lucky breaks that I’ve had and now that I have the opportunity to help others at Kickstarter. Special thanks to Jane Thier for writing the article.
