Right now, during this month, the majority of the worlds Mus.lims are giving in charity.

➡️ In Ramadan 2021 American Mus.lim’s alone donated $1.8bn in Zakat to charity.

➡️ Last year in the region of $1tn was donated by Mus.lims in Zakat globally.

Let’s stand back and think about this for a second….🤯

Impressive!

And when compared to the combined total of $16bn contributed by America’s 50 biggest Philanthropy donors that include Bill Gates its a even bigger statement.

The contribution is inspirational.

There is significance in Zakat and the power it brings to cure and rebalance the global economy. I’d like to see more take time to be inquisitive around it.

Some facts:
🔸Charity is one of the 5 pillars of the Islamic faith.
🔸Zakat, a type of obligatory charity in which Muslims are expected to give 2.5% of their annual wealth to the poor and needy.
🔸Many Mus.lims choose to fulfil this obligation during Ramadan when charity is emphasised. 
🔸Zakat is a means of redistributing wealth to the poor.
🔸Zakat sits alongside a number of other obligatory acts of charity.

Not on my watch, ever!!

In London’s underground this racist physically attacked a young Muslim lady.

For being a Muslim.

He violates her and attempts to pull her headscarf off.

“Dirty F**k**g Muslims” he said.

Claimed to a be Israeli Defence Force (IDF) soldier, to stamp his authority and instill fear. Suspect he thought he was being macho. Like it was a badge of honour.

When asked to repeat what he’d just said and done, he very comfortably did.

He then proceeds to show aggression on another sister who is holding him accountable to his actions. He ONLY stops when a brother steps in and artfully guides him away.

This is Islamaphobia my friends.

See it, stop it and never ever accept it.

It’s on all of us.

A shout out to Transport for London underground staff and the brothers and sisters allying here. I mean my sis and brother there did amazing.

Can looks be deceiving, and are we letting our biases shape us?

This is Faraz Tahir. A Australian real life hero.

He is 30 years old, Pakistani, Brown, Muslim, and a Refugee who arrived in Australia a little over a year ago. As a Security Officer at Bondi Westfield he lost his life while protecting the public from a violent attacker.

It was his first week on the job.

He was a giver, and had hopes to build a better life for himself.

He put himself, his body before others.

The thing is, when news broke there were immediate conclusions the attacker was a Muslim, a man that looked similar to Faraz. Condemnation and hate started to circulate towards Muslims. Many media journalists made statements of such.

Imagine how that feels.

The truth is, someone that looked like Faraz, who was Faraz, was the hero - who tried to stop it and who prevented greater loss to life.

I'll say that again - a Muslim Man, a Refugee, WAS the hero.

The actual attacker looked, sounded and was someone completely different to those biases and accusations. A 40 year old, Australian, White Male.

Check yourself. These times need it.

Rest in peace Faraz.
