Today is ‘international women’s day’ and on this day, as well as every other woman on earth, I wish to acknowledge this wonderful lady.

Thuli, (meaning giant) woke up each morning at the crack of dawn, brought me tea, helped me dig the foundations for a school, told the men to ‘get busy’ and was the rock that helped the project stand up strong.

To every woman out there, happy international woman’s day. We are all human beings big, small, man, woman, we all have an equal right to be the best we can be!

Today I celebrate diversity, inclusion and equality.

4 days ago we arrived in Nawalparasi at our school project. The walls were dusty, the floors were dirty, not a book or pencil in sight and we expect children to “reach their full potential.” In these conditions.

We all deserve equal access to education, the children are the future and need to be cherished as such. No matter your creed, heritage or religion, education is not a luxury, it’s a necessity.

It’s amazing what we can do with a paintbrush, some simple paints and a bit of grit and love.

There’s no books, carpets or materials in the rooms yet but I’m already getting excited to see the children arrive on Christmas Day.

Thank you all for your words of encouragement and support and merry Christmas to all. ❤️

The ice caps are melting, refugees roam the earth looking for help, the forests burn and the marginalised are pushed further away but don’t despair!

Hope lies behind the doors of every classroom in the world. With every lesson given, every story told and every chapter read! There are 1 million reasons why education alone can save the world!!

During lockdown, one of my students told me that she wanted to become a published author. So we met for ‘author’s meetings’ online and worked together to allow her to achieve her goal!!

Today was the first day back to school and ‘Hey Presto’ she’s a published author and she’s still in primary school. With this new found belief in herself, imagine what she will achieve next?

Best of all, she’s inspired a whole school to publish their very own books too. It only takes one child to get the ball rolling and who knows where the community will end up?

8. If you see someone crying on the playground, sitting on their own or looking lonely, go over, hold their hand and make sure they’re ok! Imagine what it would be like to be so sad!

9. Take care of plants, animals and insects. They’re all part of the universe and so are you. The world is your home but it’s also theirs. Let’s share it together.
