The most exhausting job Iโ€™ve ever had?

Being liked by everyone.

Smiling through meetings I hated.
Agreeing to help when my soul whispered ๐‘‘๐‘œ๐‘›โ€™๐‘ก.
Staying quiet just to keep the peace.

They call it ๐‘๐‘’๐‘–๐‘›๐‘” ๐‘›๐‘–๐‘๐‘’.
Women are experts at it.

But hereโ€™s what they donโ€™t tell you:
That kind of nice is a slow-acting poison.

It breeds resentment.
It blocks growth.
And eventually, it turns you into a version of yourself you barely recognise.

The truth?

Sometimes you have to choose between being liked
and being free.

Yes, disappointing people stings.
Yes, itโ€™ll make you feel like a monster the first few times.

But itโ€™s temporary.

Resentment?
That sucker builds.
Quietly. Daily. Relentlessly.

You donโ€™t owe anyone your burnout.
You owe yourself your honesty.

Choose discomfort now, or bitterness later.

Your future self votes for the first one.

P.S. Ever picked resentment over honesty? What did it cost you? ๐Ÿ‘€

I once blamed the work experience kid for a mistake I made.
Because I was scared of looking stupid.

Not my proudest moment.
(Special place in hell for me, I know.)

But one of my most important.

Because hereโ€™s what happened next:

๐ŸŸข I owned it.
๐ŸŸข Publicly.
๐ŸŸข No excuses.
๐ŸŸข And apologised to the kid.

And something wild happened...

The team ๐‘Ÿ๐‘’๐‘™๐‘Ž๐‘ฅ๐‘’๐‘‘.

โœ… They stopped hiding things.
โœ… They stopped panicking when things went wrong.
โœ… They started taking better risks.

Because when leaders own their sh*t,
they give permission for others to do the same.

Hereโ€™s the 3-part formula that saved my leadership skin:

๐Ÿ. ๐’๐š๐ฒ ๐ข๐ญ ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ซ๐š๐ข๐ ๐ก๐ญ.
โ€œI messed up.โ€ No softening. No blaming. Just truth.

๐Ÿ. ๐’๐ก๐š๐ซ๐ž ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐Ÿ๐ข๐ฑ.
Explain what youโ€™re doing to make it right. Action builds trust.

๐Ÿ‘. ๐’๐ž๐ญ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐ญ๐จ๐ง๐ž.
Remind the team: we learn more from mistakes than we do from wins.

โŒ Weโ€™re not robots.
โžก Weโ€™re human.
โžก Leading humans.

Your teamโ€™s culture is watching how you fail.

Teach them to do it with guts.

And at home?
The kids are always watching.

P.S. Whatโ€™s the biggest mistake youโ€™ve ever owned up to? Iโ€™ve shown you mineโ€ฆ ๐Ÿ‘€

This is not leadership!

Some leaders think yelling โ€œURGENT!โ€ makes them look important.

It doesnโ€™t.

It just makes everyone else roll their eyes and cancel dinner plans.

Weโ€™ve all been there:

๐Ÿ”ด A last-minute deck โ€œemergencyโ€ thatโ€™s been sitting in someoneโ€™s inbox for 2 days.
๐Ÿ”ด A pointless panic call at 6:55pm.
๐Ÿ”ด A Slack that says โ€œquick oneโ€ but takes your entire night.

This isnโ€™t just annoying.

This is ๐‘๐‘Ž๐‘‘ leadership.

This is anxiety with a job title.

And Gen Z? Theyโ€™re not buying it.

Years of watching their parents burn out will do that.

Theyโ€™re the first generation to call out the madness.
To ask: why are we treating minor tasks like trauma response?
To say: โ€œItโ€™s PR, not the ER.โ€

They're right.

If you want to lead the next generation, stop managing with cortisol.

They donโ€™t respond to it, and they shouldnโ€™t.

Try clarity. Calm. And, wild idea; a bit of common sense.

P.S. Whatโ€™s the weirdest โ€œemergencyโ€ youโ€™ve ever been dragged into? Drop it below ๐Ÿ‘‡

I have had sh*t week!

Lost your spark this week?

Same.

I always tell my clients:
๐ƒ๐จ๐ง'๐ญ ๐ง๐จ๐ญ ๐ญ๐จ ๐ฅ๐ž๐ญ ๐›๐š๐ ๐ฉ๐š๐ญ๐œ๐ก ๐ซ๐ž๐ฐ๐ซ๐ข๐ญ๐ž ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐ฐ๐ก๐จ๐ฅ๐ž ๐›๐ข๐จ.

So I walked the talk.
And took a double dose of my own medicine.

Monday I was the woman who juggles three humans, a business, and a spreadsheet that would terrify NASA.

By Wednesday I was suddenly โ€œfailingโ€ because:

๐Ÿ’ฌ My son was having an existential crisis
๐Ÿ‘ป A client ghosted me
โฐ And I missed a deadline

One bad week โ‰  new identity.
You donโ€™t go from Queen Energy to abject failure in 48 hours.

But we do it, right?

โœ… We forget the wins.
โœ… The grit.
โœ… The tenacity that got us here.

Hereโ€™s your reminder:

You're not the story your stress (or fear tells you.

You're the one who made it through the last mess,
and will make it through this one too.

Keep receipts.
I make my clients keep a ๐‘๐‘Ÿ๐‘Ž๐‘ฃ๐‘œ book.
Read it like scripture.

P.S. What was your last โ€œburn-it-all-downโ€ moment? I need the drama. Drop it below ๐Ÿ‘‡

I used to be the kind of person who worried about ๐‘’๐‘ฃ๐‘’๐‘Ÿ๐‘ฆ๐‘กโ„Ž๐‘–๐‘›๐‘”.

โžก The kids.
โžก The business.
โžก My mum.
โžก The dogs

And then I'd worry about how much I worried. ๐Ÿ™ƒ

When my son first passed his driving test, Iโ€™d sit up all night waiting for him to come home.
He was out living.
I was indoors spiralling.

He never knew.
But I felt it, in my body, in my brain fog, in my burnout.

Worry didnโ€™t change a thing.
Except my energy levels.
My sleep. Lose my hair.
And my ability to show up the next day like a functioning human.

The truth?
Worry is just imaginationโ€ฆ used against yourself.

It took ๐‘ค๐‘œ๐‘Ÿ๐‘˜ to retrain my brain.

โœ… To focus on action.
โœ… To stay present.
โœ… To stop catastrophising every possible outcome.

And that shift saved my sanity.
And my nervous system.

If youโ€™re stuck in worry-mode, hear this:
Youโ€™re not failing.
Youโ€™re just rehearsing pain you donโ€™t need to feel.

Now, I help women in leadership do the same.

Because when you're leading at work and at home, worry is a luxury you canโ€™t afford.

Your kids need you.
Your team needs you.
And they need you present, not panicking.

So I shift them from worry to action
From spiralling to showing up.

Take the next step.
Not the next thought.

P.S. Ever stayed up worrying for absolutely no reason? Hit me with your worst one ๐Ÿ‘‡

AI kills creativity.

Reality: It unblocks it.

As someone whoโ€™s written a book, I know what itโ€™s like to wrestle with a blank page.
The cursor blinks. The mind doesnโ€™t.

You know youโ€™ve got something to sayโ€ฆ
But no clue how to say it.

Thatโ€™s where AI earns its keep.

Itโ€™s not writing ๐‘“๐‘œ๐‘Ÿ you.
Itโ€™s brainstorming ๐‘ค๐‘–๐‘กโ„Ž you.

Need 10 ways to start a chapter?
Done.

Want 3 tonal directions for your next piece?
Boom.

It throws spaghetti at the wall,
So you can pick what sticks.

This is not the end of human creativity.
Itโ€™s the beginning of something freer.

A way to skip the grunt work and dive straight into the magic.

We should stop worrying that AI will replace our originality,
And start using it to ๐‘Ž๐‘š๐‘๐‘™๐‘–๐‘“๐‘ฆ it.

Writers, leaders, creators, parents:
Treat it like a creative co-pilot.

Because nothing fuels creativity like momentum.
And AIโ€™s got plenty of that.

Yes, I love tech.
So Iโ€™m probably biased.

But AI frees us from drudgery.
And lets us tap into more of our human potential.

Our kids are growing up with it.
So letโ€™s teach them the truth:
Itโ€™s an ๐‘’๐‘›โ„Ž๐‘Ž๐‘›๐‘๐‘’๐‘Ÿ, not a replacer.

P.S. Ever tried using AI to get unstuck? Quick reply: what did you use it for?

5 Things That Lower Cortisol Fast

๐Ÿ‘‡ Especially if you're a career mum trying not to snap at your laptop.

Most companies treat stress like a tech issue:
Add a resilience webinar, reboot the team, hope for the best.

Meanwhile, science is quietly shouting something else.

๐Ÿงช Kingโ€™s College London found that looking at real art (yes, even your kidโ€™s glitter-soaked โ€œmermaid treeโ€) can reduce cortisol by 22%.

TWENTY. TWO.

So if you want to feel human again, skip the Zoom mindfulness app and try this instead:

๐Ÿ’ฅ Real art, not Canva posters about teamwork
๐ŸŒฟ A 20-minute walk in nature
๐Ÿ–Œ๏ธ Doodling something that looks like mashed potatoes
โ˜€๏ธ A well-timed sunset
๐ŸŽจ Getting covered in PVA glue with your kids

These arenโ€™t โ€œnice to havesโ€.
Theyโ€™re nervous system maintenance.

And no, you donโ€™t need to earn them.

Your body isnโ€™t a machine.
Itโ€™s an ecosystem.

Time to treat it like one.

As usual, I wax lyrical about this in my newsletter below ๐Ÿ‘‡

P.S. Whatโ€™s your go-to nervous system reset? I want numbers: drop a % for how well it works on your worst day.
