Learning DAX in a tool like Power BI isn't an overnight process. Like anything else worth learning, there's a learning curve for DAX functions. Because the evaluation context for a DAX measure determines the result these calculations return, my own approach for building data models with DAX calculations is to create a table visual as a backbone to test out the calculations in incremental steps.

While I haven't found DAX text functions really useful in standalone formulas, I find them immensely impactful in tandem with other parts of DAX modeling, whether that's for writing DAX queries or creating DAX text measures to add as titles to Power BI visuals.
