Micromanagement is a toxic workplace behavior.
Just like everything else in the workplace, it trickles top down from the leadership.
And why DO so many leaders micromanage?
In my years of executive coaching, I’ve found that its either one of two reasons:
👉🏻 Their insecurity
👉🏻 Their ego
For leaders who are driven by either of these two, it may seem easier to do it themselves…
Instead of teaching others how to do it or giving their team the space to do it.
Genuine leadership is about creating an environment where people can connect with you and know who you are, and from there trust can be built.
When there’s trust in the workplace, there’s no need for micromanaging.
