Data professionals spend 80% of their time cleaning data.

Working in data is not always fun and glamourous like AI & ML.

But data cleaning is the most valuable work because it supports all of it.

And everything else downstream and in the ecosystem.

Save these SQL tips to handle messy datasets w/ ease!!

↳ Clean strings: remove extra spaces, weird quotes, and fix casing

↳ Fix dates: standardize formats and remove stray characters

↳ Recode variables: turn "CA", "California", and "calif" into one consistent value

↳ Handle NULLs: don't let missing data mess with your analysis

Data cleaning doesn't have to be painful if you have the right SQL functions!

Unemployment for new grads is 6.6% right now.

I truly feel bad for new graduates who are entering the job market right now because they're 100% set up to fail.

The irony is that students did the "right" thing by going to college and getting degrees.

Many even chose "safe" degrees like business and computer science and they're being met with one of the worst job markets in modern history.

Hiring in tech and business has slowed down tremendously, people are being laid off and quiet fired, and many people of retirement age are holding onto their jobs a little longer.

Gone are the days of truly entry level jobs because nowadays companies are hiring 3+ years experience as their bottom level.

This has led to underemployment-- where students are getting jobs that don't even need a degree to pay their bills. And they have side hustles which they're further penalized for in the workplace...

People will blame it on "kids these days..." and the Gen Z stare, but we all should have some empathy for younger generations.

Yes, I know the walk to school was uphill both directions for you but at least your $1 could buy 4 times as much.

Your unemployed friend on a Tuesday at 10am riding camels in Dubai:

I've unfortunately (or fortunately) become this friend.

I'm not unemployed, but I do have a mysterious source of income nobody in my family or personal life understands.

You're.... riding camels and paying your bills? It's not adding up.

I hear the chatter of people talking about me having no idea what I do and how I've built this life and here's the truth:

↳ I've built a strong personal brand on social media and have become a well-known (& likable?) person in tech/data resulting in followers and influence

↳ I specialize in B:B marketing and work with top companies like AWS, IBM, Claude, Notion and more because they want to access my audience

↳ I have no BS courses that actually help people in their data careers and have differentiated myself from all the lies and fluff

↳ I invest like crazy and make passive income in investments so I can retire some day (hopefully)

↳ I work approximately 1 million hours a week and can't shut my brain off because almost everything has to be content (even riding camels)

And that's why I can ride camels on a random Tuesday.

Hope that clears things up!

PS. Remember when I used to have to ask for PTO to take a mental health day and kept getting denied?? Crazy times!

People used to call me "cringe" for posting on LinkedIn everyday.

But this week, I flew first class on Emirates for free to keynote in Dubai.

I only spoke for 10 min, & they put me in a 5 start hotel for 5 days too.

Idk about you... but doing cool things and building authority in your niche isn't "cringe" to me, especially when it really pays off.

I spoke on the tech stage at 1 Billion Followers Summit all about:

What happens to your data when you post on social media:

↳ the data social media platforms collect
↳ how they use your data for algorithms, ads, & AI training
↳ LinkedIn's new AI & data terms
↳ the good and the bad

It was my best keynote yet and I'm SUPER proud! 🔥

So post the d*mn content on LinkedIn and stop making fun of people who do!!
A popular (male) data influencer has been stealing content and ideas from me and Dawn Choo

And I'm not very happy about it.

They copied my LinkedIn cover photo many months ago stealing my original design of "select * from jess_ramos" pointing to my cover photo.

I didn't say anything because it's the highest form of flattery and it's not worth my time.

But then a week ago, they copied Dawn's instagram video *word for word* stealing the exact concept, text, and script.

I commented calling them out and they DMed me saying they "tagged Dawn in the comments giving her credit."

When I said that still doesn't make it okay to copy people, they changed their whole story and said they "filmed it weeks before and Dawn coincidentally came up with the EXACT same idea” copying them.

And they sent a fool proof screenshot with a timestamp they edited in their phone LOL

How about we stop copying other creators and stealing ideas from women??

And even worse, lying about it?

People talk. Is that really how you want your reputation to be?
