Cloud cost is a growing problem for most tech companies — in many cases, it's the #2 cost after salaries. That's why in 2023 I expect to see an increased focus on #finops concepts around cloud financial management.

Engineering teams must develop the discipline to manage cloud costs, including understanding where the cost is, automating and optimizing accountability, and creating budgets that balance affordability and reliability. With the economy slowing and budgets tightening, trimming cloud costs will become a necessity.
