I interviewed Aamir Khan sir a few days ago and it was such an emotional, raw interview. He recalled his childhood days and a rough 8 year patch for the family, when they were in debt. He wears his heart on his sleeve, and at many points in the interview he broke down recalling certain memories. The one that pinched me the most was this one from his schooling days–

The fee structure for his school was something like this– if you were in the 6th standard, it was 6 Rupees, for the 7th standard it was 7 Rupees, 8th standard 8 Rupees and so on. Still, his siblings and him were always late to pay their fees… so after 1-2 warnings, the principal would announce their names in the assembly, in front of the entire school…

I really felt that, because at some point we’ve all been through this– humiliated in front of our class/ in the assembly for no fault of ours… and decades later as he recalled this incident, there were still tears in his eyes.

From there, to standing firm on his resolve to get into films (a decision his entire family was supremely against) to becoming one of the finest actors we’ve had… what a tremendous journey.

Can’t wait to bring it to you…soon!

I met Tata sir 3 times and each time, he blew me away with the way he carried himself. You know what they say about how just being around greatness teaches you? I feel that. Every minute with him was a lesson.

The first time I met him: The way he spoke about Goa, a stray he adopted. He said, “Goa adopted us.’ He asked about our work at HOB, requested me to sign our book for him and then inquired about a girl who was shot in 26/11 and wasn’t compensated– he wanted to help her through the Tata Trust. I remember leaving his office with a warm heart and the thought that if we had more like him, the world would be a much better place.

The second time: I got 1 hour to interview him and as I made copious notes when he spoke, he peppered the whole conversation with words of encouragement. He kept saying, ‘that’s a really good question’ or ‘you’ve really done a good job!’ When he spoke, there was so much genuineness; he reflected on his journey and kept acknowledging everyone who had made HIS journey possible. Again, I left that one hour thinking I want to be like him… humble, kind and so dignified.

The third time: I told him about everything we’ve been building at Humans of Bombay and he said the words that I’m still in disbelief about– ‘I salute you. Telling stories is important… it’s important work.’ His humility & ability to make you feel so good about yourself…. Even years later is a gift.

To have met him thrice is my life’s greatest honor. I will carry my time with him, the lessons I learnt from him… forever. There is absolutely no one like him…a complete man in every sense of the word. ♥️

A picture from 6 years ago– we were just 4 people in the team, working from a makeshift home converted to an office. There were bean bags, fairy lights, plastic chairs and lots of coconut water. We were as bootstrapped and as ‘start up’ as it gets– but we were just so damned happy because we were creating and building.

Back then, I knew maybe 1/1000th of what I know about running a company today, but it didn’t matter then, it doesn’t matter today. No one has all the answers, not every plan works out anyway… but that’s what the journey is about.

And the only thing that’s for sure is this– you can’t ‘become’ without going through it; without the journey.

Begin today and enjoy the ride, friends!

Ever since I founded Humans of Bombay in 2014, MSD has been atop my ‘wish–list’ of people I can interview. A decade later, that wish-list became my reality as I got the incredible (and once in a lifetime) opportunity to interview him on stage, in front of a live audience. 👑

And the lived experience was everything I visualised and more. MSD was an absolute gentleman. He was already seated when I walked onto stage. As I approached my seat, he stood up to greet me, extended a handshake and when I said, ‘Hi I’m Karishma’, he introduced himself and said, ‘Hi, I’m MS!’ 💎

And throughout the conversation, he answered every question I had with utmost honesty and care. At the end when I gave him a book we specially curated for him (with all our army stories) he took 2-3 minutes to actually go through the book and said, ‘this is a very thoughtful gesture, thank you– I will read it cover to cover. 📚

It’s just true what they say– by simply being around greatness you learn through Osmosis. 💗

As I learnt that dreams do come true and that to be humble, kind and present is the only way to be… the Maahi way :) 🫶

Since the past 2 days, each time I’ve opened social media, there's been a post about Vikrant Massey’s break from acting.
And I can’t help but smile. 🫶

In a world that focuses so much on hustle and grind, and who’s “winning,” here’s a man at the peak of his career choosing to prioritize his family and… recaliberating. This is not the norm, especially for men – they are often expected to keep pushing, keep achieving, and keep providing. 🧗‍♂️

Vikrant’s decision feels like a powerful statement. It says- “I’ll decide what matters most in my life.” 🩷

And honestly, all of us deserve that space where we can step back, reflect, and make decisions that can add more meaning to our life and not just milestones. 🧿

Setbacks are inevitable

Turning the setback into a comeback is where you change the definition from “failure” to “lesson” to “success.”

Working hard… the comeback will be greater than the setback 🙏🏻🚀

Shaily Maheshwari Kajaria and I went to high school together. Honestly, we weren’t the best students (we were good at studies, but were always the ‘naughty’ kids) and towards the end not a lot was expected of us (this isn’t an assumption, we were told this in may different variations).

Cut to the year right after college– I founded Humans of Bombay and at 21, Shaili co–founded KapitalTech, one of India’s leading Fin tech company that has disbursed 2200+ crores over the last few years!

And now after exiting KapitalTech, she’s co founded Tezzract which looks to do a billion dollars in MSME loans over 5 years– and I’m just so overwhelmingly proud of her!

Looking back, we were never model students; no one expected us to do anything substantial–but did that determine what we’d do in life or how far we’d go? absolutely not.

So let this be your reminder that you can always turn it around and that the metrics on which we’re often categorised don’t matter as much as your drive to make it! 🚀

today is one of those days that I feel just so damned grateful to be doing what I love, to be discovering what my purpose in life is. It couldn’t have been any other way. It feels like fking bliss when I’m working- time flies, the days blur and I’m revelling in the sweetness of pure and unbridled ambition.

I’m not promoting hustle culture, I’m saying this is me. All of me. I’m ready to give it all this year cause I know we’re on the cusp of a breakthrough like nothing else. It’s a 7 day work week this one and I have the widest smile on my face… I feel lucky to live my dream out loud everyday. I don’t take it for granted. And thank you all for following me on this journey- we’ll make it an INSANE one this year I promise!

Can’t wait to show you what we’ve been building for the last couple of months…. It’s… WOW! Soon 💜

Looking back at a 7 day work week- lost track of days, time, shoots, meetings, OUR FIRST OFFLINE EVENT- but I feel like I can run a marathon!

The BEST of these days!

Life update: Bombay girl in the Bay Area 🌎🩵

Building something that doesn’t exist yet — but should.
Every conversation here is sharpening the vision and it feels like 2014 all over again when I hit ‘publish’ on the first Humans of Bombay post & knew that it was the beginning of something special :)

The hustle is overrated. The days are long, the nights sometimes are longer. Please don’t let anyone glorify the hustle culture– take a break when needed, prioritise your ‘me’ time relentlessly and vehemently.

Been having ridiculously long working hours and I don’t think that should be celebrated. Break soon!

Just a little reminder for anyone who needs it!

When I moved to live independently in 2022, several people questioned me about the need to move out of my family’s house, when living in the same city. But it was the most transformational move of my life – a liberating move. Since then, it’s been a journey of self-discovery, embracing responsibilities, & above all, being comfortable in my own quiet space. 🏠

The joy of living independently, though, is something you can only understand if you experience it… And so, when I recently had a chat with Ananya Panday, we resonated on a very personal level. After all, she too recently moved out of her parents’ house and is just getting familiar with the quiet that comes with living alone. She added, “It’s okay to be lonely sometimes.” And I couldn’t agree more. 💫

In this candid conversation, Ananya shared it all with us—from how she has changed over the years, her learnings from her co-actors and directors to how she has learnt to embrace the privilege she was born into. She also gave us a peek into love and friendships in her life. 🫶

Here are the major takeaways I had from this beautiful conversation:

⭐ When you move out of your comfort zone, it might get lonely & it’s absolutely okay – that’s exactly how you grow in life.
⭐ Starting early is a blessing– you learn on the go, but that’s what makes you stronger and resilient.
⭐ Balance in life is necessary. No matter the fame, success and busy schedules– taking out time for your family and friends is equally important.

Watch the episode to see a different side to Ananya Panday – a side so calm, and composed!

When it comes to our finances, we all want to be in control. But sometimes it feels like we're at the mercy of our bank or a financial advisor. Especially now, we’re bombarded with products and services, and it's hard to know who to trust.

So, even if we find a good advisor, it's important to keep an eye on their activities. There have been a shocking number of cases of mis-selling and clueless investment advice. Financial advisors have been caught recommending high-risk products to their clients, or even worse, investing their money without their consent.

Knowledge is power, so arm yourself with as much information as possible about the products you're being offered. And if something doesn't feel right, always speak up! Your financial advisor should be working in your best interests, not theirs.

That’s why I support 1 Finance ‘s initiative to expose the truth behind mis-selling in the insurance industry– knowing IS believing.

Tell me if you’ve ever received any questionable financial advice or if you’ve dodged any such bullets!

500K of you follow me here on Linkedin– I’m so grateful that you guys resonate with my journey! This year especially has been filled with challenges. We’ve launched so many new IPs– the pressure to deliver has been real and emphatic on many, many days.

It’s been challenging– the work hours have been long, the process to scale has taught me so much…the hard way, I’ve been down, out and hit lows more times this year than the past 9 years combined.

But this year continues to teach me more about leadership, things I can share with you:

1) Exercise restraint when you feel like everything is going wrong. Disengaging is the best way to align.

2) When in doubt about making difficult decisions go back to your value system. It’s the best guiding yardstick when you’re conflicted.

3) Pressure is inevitable, releasing it is a choice. Identify how best you feel that pressure lift off your shoulders and make that happen, consciously and often.

4)A growth spurt is challenging; becoming aware that challenges and growth are intertwined softens the blow. Your mind is more prepared, you aren’t caught unaware.

5)Every person won’t like when you grow; there will be conflict, negativity. Again, disengaging and accepting will soften the blow.

I thought a 500k post deserves honesty– so here it is. I’m an entrepreneur, but I have always had a love for words…first. Thank you for reading and rooting for me in this crazy journey. I have only love and gratitude.

Looking forward to learning and unlearning together! 💥🙏🏻

Some interviews stay with you long after the cameras stop rolling, and for me, Aamir Khan tops that list.

Sitting across from him, I was in absolute awe of the man he was. As he shared his life, his method, his magic with me, I thought, “I cannot be more impressed with this man.” And then… he started crying.

I was beyond myself – “I made Aamir Khan cry!” But he just said, “Don’t worry, main bahot jaldi rota hoon!” And that was so refreshing—a man unafraid to feel, unafraid to show the world his vulnerability.

But beyond that, here are my biggest takeaways from Aamir’s journey:

🚀Dedicating time for passion projects - Aamir spoke about how he carves out time, no matter how packed his schedule is, to work on projects that fuel his soul. For him, it’s filmmaking; for me, it’s writing stories, and creating a real impact.

🚀Magic over perfection - Despite being called a “perfectionist”, Aamir revealed that he never seeks perfection, just magic – something that makes you fall in love with what you do, all over again!

🚀Value alignment check - Aamir shared how, early in his career, he often said yes to projects that didn’t truly resonate with him. It left him feeling drained and disconnected. It resonated so deeply with me – at Humans of Bombay, our values are a #1 non-negotiable!

But most importantly, I was in awe of his kindness. The man who has mastered so much remains incredibly grounded, self-aware, and open to learning and feeling. And that, to me, is true greatness.

Here’s to finding magic over perfection, every single day!

I work long hours- as a solo founder, I’m making several decisions in a day and work round the clock to get things done. And whilst I love it, it is undeniable that being so consumed can take its toll on you. It’s neccesary for me to align myself and work on me, before I step into work every morning. A typical morning in my life-

🪐wake up at 6am
💧warm water with lemon
🧘‍♀️ meditate
🥤 fresh juice
🏃🏻‍♀️ workout
📖 read
🖊️ journal
🍳breakfast

Before I have even begun my day, I am so aligned that I’m able to make better decisions, I’m able to stay calm when things go wrong, I’m able to maintain balance… and that’s what I strive for. The equilibrium. And I’m READY to go!

And the one non negotiable thru this process- DO NOT ENGAGE WITH SOCIAL MEDIA FOR ATLEAST THE FIRST HOUR OF WAKING UP!

I hope you take this as a sign to lead a better life by taking your personal development as seriously as all your other goals! ☀️

What centres you? I’d love to know!

When I first watched 12th Fail, I felt everything Vikrant Massey’s character felt. The story stayed with me, and I loved it so much that I watched it again. And every time I watched it, I cried. It made me realize just how incredibly tough the UPSC journey is—not just in terms of knowledge, but in everything it asks from you mentally and emotionally. 🧘‍♀️

And recently when I had the chance to sit down with Dr. Tanu Jain—a former civil servant who served for 7.5 years, and now helps students prepare for this journey, I understood the depth of the exams even more. I would say that our conversation was so enlightening and deeply impactful. 💡

Dr. Jain shared how UPSC doesn’t just test your academic strength, but also your resilience and patience. She spoke about the overwhelming self-doubt many aspirants face, and how important it is to keep going even when the finish line feels so far away. Most importantly, she emphasized how crucial it is to have a Plan B, because life doesn’t always go as planned, and that’s okay. 🧗‍♀️

This conversation was a reminder that success in UPSC, or in any tough journey, is about much more than just pushing through—it’s about growing through the process, no matter how hard it gets. 🫶

We also spoke about:
⭐ How to tackle pressure
⭐ How to crack the exam
⭐ Revealed secrets of kids who made through
⭐ Handling stress and anxiety
⭐ Handling the fear of failure
⭐ What to do when one feels like they are at rock bottom

If you or someone you know is on this path, I highly recommend watching this episode. It’s not just about the exam—it’s about building the mental and emotional strength to handle whatever comes your way. 🚀

To be happy is to-

1)fill your own cup before pouring into anybody else’s.(Self love, often mis-labeled ‘selfish’)🫗
2)know that happiness is an internal process, you have to bake it yourself! 🎂
3)to know that someone else “making you” happy is relinquishing control over what is your BIRTH RIGHT- to be happy, at peace, abundant. 🌈
4)to know that happiness like everything else in life, comes in waves, some high, some low. Navigating these waves to be at an optimum allows for ‘balanced happiness’ over extended periods of time. 🌊
5)to know that happiness is a conscious decision- you have to work towards it like you do your other goals. 💭

Began my morning with an amazing workout, mediation, and a great new book I’ve begun. Life feels good, so a little inspired writing on happiness for you today! ☺️(photo is from a VERY happy shoot day)

What’s happiness to you?

Before Humans of Bombay, I had a start up called Knoq.

I was all of 20 and wanted to conduct workshops to help people apply techniques of manifestation/visualization– I felt deeply passionate about it. My first workshop even had 22 people sign up!

Still…It didn’t work. But I will never call it a ‘failure’ because it taught me so much:

1. You don’t need all the answers to begin — you just need to begin 🏃‍♀️
Clarity comes after action, not before it and along the way you learn, you tweak, you flow.

2. ‘Fail’ fast ⚡
Knoq gave me quick feedback: it wasn’t as scalable.
So I moved on — with sharper instincts.

3. Your first draft doesn’t have to be perfect 🥶
Knoq was messy and unscalable.
But it was a spark — the one that lit the way to Humans of Bombay.

So to everyone reading, contemplating ‘success’ and ‘failure’ know this–

–Your first idea might fail.
–It might never scale.
–It might not even make sense to anyone else.

BUT IF IT MOVES YOUR FORWARD, IT WORKED. 👏

What did your first failure teach you that success never could?
You never know who’s quietly reading — and needs your story to keep going :)

A day to celebrate Nethra Gupta the backbone of team Humans of Bombay. I still remember what Nethra told me once during lunch- (our lunch sessions are the best!)

She said, someone at a work place once asked her– ‘you’re surviving right, so why are you complaining?’

And she turned around and told him, ‘I want to thrive, not survive!’

And that’s Nethra for you– hardworking, fierce and limitless.

To growing and thriving together for years to come– Happy Birthday! 🚀✨💕

When we first got the idea of doing our own talk show, we were given MASSIVE quotations to make it– something that just wasn’t feasible.

So we decided to do it in-house, on a shoe string budget. Whoever we spoke to, told us it couldn’t be done– that we were too inexperienced a team, that we needed to pump in more money; that it was impossible.

But we believed in our idea as a team– we put our head down and put in the hours. We worked relentlessly on our vision, managed within a small budget and gave it our call.

Months later– OUR SHOW IS RELEASING against overwhelming odds.

We did it with a young team that just had a HUGE vision.

So this is your reminder– if you have an idea, back it and just…BEGIN. There will always be people who say that it could be done a certain way, or that you need xyz, but the truth is you can begin where you are today– taking the first step is everything.

Go for it! 🚀

Here’s something wild: our gut isn’t just about digestion; it’s practically the control center for our well-being. Lately, I’ve been deep-diving into how gut health impacts everything—from our energy and mood to metabolism and hormones. And let me tell you, it’s fascinating. 💎

I’ve always believed in the power of good nutrition, but after chatting with Palak Midha & Pranav Midha, the brains behind Miduty, I’m more convinced than ever. Nurturing our gut might just be the ultimate hack to feeling our best. 🫶

In our recent podcast, we talked about:
⭐ Gut Health & Diabetes: I had no idea just how much gut health affects our mood and personality. Palak and Pranav shared some incredible insights on how taking care of our gut could be a game-changer.
⭐ Good vs. Bad Protein: It’s easy to think protein is just protein, but there’s so much more to it. The quality of protein we consume can impact everything from energy levels to digestion. I’ve definitely made some changes in my own diet after hearing their take on this.
⭐ Thyroid Health: This was an eye-opener. I’ve always heard that thyroid issues can affect us, but never knew how to detect one or how to take precautions for the same. This interview gave me a lot of information about the same.

This podcast is a reminder that our body is a complex system, and there is so much we neglect. Whether you’re dealing with blood sugar issues, thyroid concerns, or just want to optimize your health, this episode is packed with insights that I think everyone should hear. ❤️‍🔥

Definitely give it a listen if you’re curious about making smarter choices for your body.

Whenever I speak about the rejections and failures, people always resonate with the sentiment.

And I think I know why. On social media where we’re all celebrating our highs, talking about the lows adds that real touch.

Recently, when I spoke to Bhavesh and he spoke about humility in dealing with failures, I could relate to it. How gracefully you handle your failures and learn from them is what shapes you as a person.

Bhavesh, a Yogi and spiritual teacher of today, is on a mission to share learnings from our scriptures and Puranic texts, but in the language millennials understand. So be it about understanding spirituality, or yoga, the Vedas or Lord Shiva, he has immense knowledge to share.

To be honest, whilst speaking with him, I had my own vested interest—as someone who’s always curious about spirituality, this episode felt like a spiritual retreat for me!

Bhavesh talks to us about:
His tryst with spirituality
Understanding ego
How to surrender
His rendezvous with Shiva
Shiva’s story
What we can learn from Shiva

What does it take to become a first-generation entrepreneur?

Passion. That, and a strong belief in your ideas.

That’s what inspired Anmol Jaggi to start BluSmart, an all-electric fleet ride-hailing company—he combined his passion for entrepreneurship with his passion for the environment.

But his journey to acting on his passions wasn’t the easiest. Being the first-generation entrepreneur in his family, Anmol had to convince his Fauji dad that he was capable of running a business. It was his strong belief in himself that helped him do that, and later, take the plunge that has led him to where he is today!

Chatting with fellow entrepreneurs is always exciting, there’s so much to learn from everyone. This chat with Anmol Jaggi, the co-founder & CEO of BluSmart, was no different. He talks about his passion for entrepreneurship, gender inclusivity and what it takes to stay ahead of the curve.

Here are my takeaways from the episode:

➡️ Take the plunge: As an entrepreneur, if you don’t bet on yourself, nobody else will. So if you have an idea, believe in it, build on it, and take the plunge!

➡️ Always think ahead: To make a mark and stay relevant, an entrepreneur must always think two steps ahead. Good entrepreneurs don’t just capitalize on their ideas, but the future.

➡️ Think big: As a leader, the best thing you can do for your team & your business is to dream big! If you dream big, so will your team—that’s how you grow and scale newer heights.

I was 14 when I first stumbled upon Forbes– I was mesmerised; it was in the purest sense what ambition tasted like. I wanted to see myself there; I wanted to feel the way I felt when I read about men and women changing the world– I wanted to change the world.

I fostered this dream since then, and when I started Humans of Bombay in 2014, the dream only became bigger.

Now, I’ve been practising controlling the mind, creative visualisation and energy harnessing techniques since the beginning of my career– the one thing consistently on my list of goals was… Forbes and I put everything I’d learnt in action when I decided that it would happen for me in 2016.

I remember, my password for 2 years was– Forbes2016! (It has obviously changed since)– but the ‘dream’ didn’t feel like it anymore, I began embodying the feeling of being there already.

…And in April 2016, I was featured in Forbes Asia. The photo I’ve attached is of my 2016 goal list that I opened in Dec 2016!

I still remember how I felt when I saw it– about the feature, yes, but more so because I knew that I had the power to achieve ANYTHING and that that infinite power was within me.

And I am so excited to talk about everything I’ve learnt with you via the Kove seminars– the first one is this Sunday, you can register here–

As an entrepreneur running a business for a decade now, I’ve learned SO much on the job! And one of those valuable lessons is the importance of honesty and passion in your work–when you work passionately, it shows over time and it not only helps the organization grow, but also YOU grow.

Recently, when I sat down to chat with Ashok Kumar Mittal the Founder and Chancellor of Lovely Professional University (LPU) I was glad to see he resonated with the same.

Ashok Kumar Mittal’s journey has been vast and filled with varied experiences—as a young child, he helped out at his father’s mithai ki dukaan only to grow older and release that he could delve into something else. And so, while he studied Law, he got into the automobile dealership business and later dreamt of doing something unprecedented—starting a University. From getting a bill passed to building India’s largest University, his story is one of unwavering passion and resilience.

In this episode, we discuss education and a lot more—the integration of technology in education, his foray into education, and what the future classroom of India will look like. 🇮🇳

My biggest takeaways from this conversation are:

🚀Never be afraid to take that risk—if you have an idea and believe in it, go ahead & take that first step!
🚀While books are important to learn, life teaches you the most valuable lessons—keep your ears and eyes open!
🚀Fight for what you believe in—if you don’t, who will?

This one’s an episode filled with insights on education…but more than that, a big dose of inspiration! Please let us know what you think :)

In the face of challenges and difficult situations, I’ve over the years learnt to go inwards and reflect.

Spirituality, meditation and understanding that there is a reason for everything; that time is the biggest leveller has allowed for the anchoring in tumultuous times.

I’ve learnt a lot of lessons from the Mahadeva. The biggest one, one I always fall back upon

“After the destruction, comes the creation.”

Hope you all have a productive Monday :)

When I started Humans of Bombay, all I wanted to do was tell stories. But somewhere along the way, we realized that stories don’t just inspire—they create impact. And today, that impact is bigger than anything I could have imagined. 🚀

Over the years, we’ve raised over ₹15 crores for people who needed help the most. Whether it was ₹23 lakhs for Ali Bhai, who was wrongfully imprisoned for 23 years, or ₹5 lakhs for Anita ji’s 5 daughters—after their father brutally attacked their mother just to find out the gender of the baby.

Or even when we posted the story of a son searching for his missing father—who was found two days later in Vapi because someone recognized him from our post. Or when a sister reached out to help her brother, and we raised ₹1.5 lakhs organically for his treatment. 😊

And now, we’re raising ₹20 lakhs for Aarti who was blackmailed, assaulted, raped, and beaten for five years.

We’ve moved beyond just likes and shares. The main goal is to talk create real, tangible impact. The idea is and always has been to be the voices of those who’ve been unheard for too long and to tell stories that make a difference.🙏

P.S - sharing the link here in case you wish to help Arti - https://rb.gy/47yxu0 🙏

If I had to describe the common factor in all of us at HOB, I’d say it in two words– ‘Ho Jayega!’ From tight timelines to stressful situations to new projects, every person on the team believes that we’ll do it and well… Ho Jayega! (Fun fact: it’s one of the most used phrases in the office, really ask anyone!)

And that’s how we started our show, How The Hell Did I Do It– we had an idea, we put our best foot forward and just began! It’s entirely produced in-house by a young team that believes in the power of bringing out full, uncut stories to you. Months later, we’ve gotten better, we know what’s working and we’re excited to up the ante– but it all began because we believed we could.

So today, as we stand at 546k+ subscribers on YouTube, I have the biggest request to make of you! Please take 30 seconds of your time and subscribe to our channel and hit the bell icon to turn on notifications– IT REALLY HELPS US REACH MORE PEOPLE!

Link to our channel– https://lnkd.in/d7NN6sDw

And it would mean the world to all of us at HOB who have put our 200% into it!

Thank you all for your constant and unwavering support– it makes us want to do better everyday! Also, if you have any feedback for our show, please comment and let us know– we’re always listening!

I was 14 when I first stumbled upon Forbes– I was mesmerised; it was in the purest sense what ambition tasted like. I wanted to see myself there; I wanted to feel the way I felt when I read about people changing the world– I wanted to change the world.

I fostered this dream since then, and when I started Humans of Bombay in 2014, that dream got its wings.

I’ve been practising controlling the mind, creative visualisation and meditation since the beginning of my career– the one thing consistently on my list of goals was… Forbes; I surrendered and continued to act with intent.

I remember, my password for 2 years was– Forbes2016! (It has obviously changed since)– but the ‘dream’ didn’t feel like it anymore, I began embodying the feeling of being there already.

…And in April 2016, I was featured in Forbes Asia. The photo in the carousel is of my 2016 goal list that I opened in Dec 2016!

I still remember how I felt when I saw it– about the feature, yes, but more so because I knew that I had the power to achieve ANYTHING and that infinite power was within me.

And I am so excited to talk about everything I’ve learnt with you, in person with @drkarishmaahuja a meta physical counsellor, who teaches these practices everyday.

Such an important skill to have!
What’s that one skill you’re trying to hone? Tell me in the comments!
Monday has the word ‘Mon’ in it; that’s French for ‘mine’… and I’ve always felt like that about Monday. It’s MY day- I love what we do and everything we’re building and can’t wait to show up to work and smash it.

Find something to do that makes you love Mondays… that’s the sure– shot way of knowing whether you’re in the right job or not!

I’ve always been deeply connected to faith and spirituality — how they guide us, shape our beliefs, and connect us to something greater. ⭐️

And recently, I had the chance to sit down with Dr. Vineet Aggarwal, a doctor, author, and expert in Hindu mythological philosophies, for a very special episode on Maha Kumbh 2025. 🙏

We talked about how beliefs that have been passed down through generations are actually tied to science in ways I never imagined. It was an eye-opening conversation that made me rethink how spirituality and science are far more intertwined than we realize. He also told me stories from the puranas that are connected to the Kumbh.💫

One fascinating story that stayed with me long after our conversation was when he told me how taking dips in the holy water came to be connected to immortality. 💡

But it wasn’t just about rituals; in this episode, we explored the deeper meaning behind the Naga Sadhus, their connection to Dharma, and how even something as cosmic as Jupiter plays a crucial role in our lives on Earth. 🌍

Dr. Aggarwal brilliantly connected the dots between spirituality and science, shedding light on how ancient wisdom has far-reaching relevance in today’s world.
We also spoke about:

✨ Spiritual Importance of Maha Kumbh
✨ Samudra Manthan Story
✨ Amrit and the Immortality story
✨ Significance and stories around Naga Sadhus
✨ Importance of Naga Sadhus in context to today’s world
✨ Kumbh being the most spiritually active place
✨ About Brahma, Vishnu And Shiva
If you’ve ever wondered about the true significance of these ancient practices, this episode will leave you with a lot to think about.♥️

There’s a Sanskrit shloka that says, ‘’Yatra Pratibha Avsara Prapnotihi,“ which translates to “where talent meets opportunity.’’ Recently, I had a conversation with a 16-year-old who truly embodied this idea. ❄️

“Don’t look ahead at how much you have left to go; look back and see how far you’ve come.“
This was the mantra that propelled Kaamya Karthikeyan, the youngest Indian to ever scale Mt. Everest.

From going on hikes at the age of three to conquering the highest peaks on all seven continents at 17, Kaamya is a force of nature—proving that dreams are achieved one step at a time.

In this episode, we discuss Kaamya's remarkable journey:
🏔️How she became the youngest Indian to summit Mt. Everest.
🏔️How she completed the Seven Summits Challenge at 17, becoming the youngest female in the world to do so.
🏔️Navigating the “Death Zone“ and traffic jams on Everest.
🏔️Her next goal: Summiting the North and South Poles.

Imagine battling court cases, losing team members, and surviving on minimal oxygen at 29,000 ft—all before reaching adulthood. This episode showcases the incredible power of preparation, hard work, and unshakable resilience.

If a 17-year-old can defy the odds and stand at the top of the world—what’s stopping you?

Last year, I shared a list of recommendations from Kashmir: I had the best days in Srinagar and Gulmarg. India has so many worlds within worlds– from Doodhpathri in Kashmir to Kuldhara in Jaisalmer, there is so much to discover in our country.

I’ve always encouraged these short breaks that allow you to travel, rejuvenate and most importantly support our local tourism: the hospitality and warmth I’ve experienced here, in our country is impossible to find elsewhere.

So I love that on Independence day MakeMyTrip and Incredible India, Ministry of Tourism, India have released a GoogleMap of some of India’s best kept travel secrets… 👉 https://lnkd.in/dFSfWVdn

Loved the QR integration in their print ad.

This year, Leh is on my list and ofcourse, my biggest love, a safari in Kanha.

What’s on your travel list this year? Do share so that we have a collective pool of interesting places we can all have on our bucket list!

My entrepreneurial journey started when I was 21– so, I’ve been privy to all kinds of speculations and labels. Sometimes I’ve been ‘too young’; other times, I’ve been ‘too opinionated’ when I’ve had something to say; and then I’ve been ‘too dominating’ when I’ve negotiated hard!

Still, I wore the labels like an armour and backed myself even harder. ⚡️🚀

Love the Raga by Titan ad on their new Instagram handle, https://lnkd.in/dCVjH4eZ - I couldn’t relate more!

A great reminder to let the judgement fall on deaf ears and just…love yourself boldly! 🕊️
