42 million Americans are about to lose food assistance. And most of LinkedIn is talking about…AI prompts.
It makes me want to freaking scream.
In 2 days, nearly 𝟰𝟮 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻𝘀 — about 𝟭 𝗶𝗻 𝟴 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗨.𝗦. — rely on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) just to eat.
And unless something changes this week, they will LOSE it.
Every SINGE ONE of them.
Let me make this real for you:
→ 𝟰𝟮% of SNAP recipients are CHILDREN.
→ 𝟮𝟲% are elderly or disabled.
→ 𝟭 𝗶𝗻 𝟱 𝗸𝗶𝗱𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗨.𝗦. depends on SNAP to eat.
→ And yes, working families — including employees at Walmart, Amazon, and McDonald’s — are some of the most frequent recipients because wages are TOO LOW TO LIVE.
This is not just a political issue.
This is a business issue.
This is a LinkedIn issue.
If you’re building a company, leading a team, investing in startups, giving talks on “impact”…
And you’re ignoring the fact that millions of working people are about to lose their ability to eat?
Then what the actual f*ck are we doing?
We’ve got people out here writing dissertations on how to send better sales DMs, bragging about their recent round, promotion, or vacation.
Meanwhile, millions of people — our neighbors, our coworkers, our former classmates, your employees — are days away from being unable to BUY FREAKING GROCERIES.
And almost no one on this platform is saying a word about it.
I know I’ll lose followers.
I know I’m going to get pushback.
I know some folks will say “this isn’t what LinkedIn is for.”
But here’s what I know for sure:
If your version of “business” doesn’t care that people working 40+ hours a week still need food stamps to survive — and now might lose EVEN THAT?!
You’re not building a business.
You’re participating in 𝗮 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 𝗼𝗳 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.
And I want no part of that silence.
📞 Call your members of Congress. Tell your friends, colleagues, and bosses to do the same. Demand action.
Tell them this is not okay.
This is not radical.
This is not partisan.
And this FOR SURE is not Christian.
This is basic human decency.
𝗙*𝗰𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴.𝗙𝗲𝗲𝗱.𝗣𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲.
In love and outrage,
Kasey
