The most important thing you can do to better yourself in my field, and in all fields, is to continuously learn. I take learning very seriously. I learn all the time just through doing stuff, but to consolidate this and prepare to pass my learning on to others I also designate the first Friday of every month as my personal learning day. Today is my personal learning day. Here's how it works:
1. I go somewhere different to the home or office, like a library or other quiet space
2. I choose one topic to go deep on
3. I don't have a set objective, I just let my learning take me where it takes me
4. My phone, slack, etc are out of the way
5. When I am finished I write down at least three new things I now know or understand better
6. I write down what topic I would like to focus on for my next personal learning day
I just want to say that if I did not have an incredibly supportive environment that values learning, and if I did not have such an incredibly capable team, I would not have this luxury. I don't take it for granted.
