I was watching the House Impeachment session yesterday, and saw the Rep from Massachusetts totally rocking this Ankara. I felt a sense of joy and pride at how far our products and services have come. These days I walk into malls and hear Nigerian music. Kanye West Sampling our songs. Bethel Music redoing Sinach’s Way Maker. Nathaniel Bassey’s Imela trending globally. Nollywood movies taking their place on Netflix and our fabric now at the US Congress floor. Imagine how much we could be exporting to the world in products and service when we finally get our acts together, and make oil the last of our exports; as against the 75% it currently represents in our exports basket.
By the way, hardly does a nation move from developing, to developed, without developing its textile industry; through textile technology. We cannot jump over industrialization to service, as we seem to have done; it’s not sustainable. That’s why we’re struggling!
We can do this, it is not rocket science!
