This week, I joined the #EMFSummit22 to discuss accelerating the transition to a circular economy. So, it felt like no better place to sport my RE:GROUND sneakers - a collaboration with our teams at NestlĂ© Nespresso SA and zero-waste fashion start-up ZĂšta . The sneakers are made using recycled coffee grounds — each pair contains 12 cups’ worth of coffee grounds from Nespresso’s capsule recycling program, which have been integrated into the vegan leather and soles of the shoes. More to come on the summit soon!

Would it surprise you to know the Philippines is our largest Nestlé market across Asia, Oceania, and Africa? In addition to powerhouse brands like Bear Brand, Maggi, Milo and Nido, the team is driving an impressive #innovation pipeline, especially with new products related to affordable nutrition and to healthy aging. In my visit last week, the strength and growth potential of the Philippines market was clear.

At NestlĂ©, our portfolio is deeply localized, rather than ‘one-size-fits-all.’ As we continue to grow key categories for the #Philippines like dairy and coffee, we’re reinvesting in local sourcing and manufacturing. I can’t wait to see what the team will bring next. As we said in our Maggi tasting lunch – Kain tayo!

Our fall ‘All Hands’ brought together our NestlĂ© employees from around the world, with sites in Beijing, New Delhi, SĂŁo Paulo, Warsaw, Washington DC, and many more. This was the first time our employees have come together in this way, tuning in from watch parties and participating in the broadcast. It gave us an important opportunity to connect with one another, celebrate powerhouse brands, and share a vision for the future.

One part of that time together included the opportunity for me to answer employee questions, moderated by our CCO Lisa Gibby and spanning topics like our nutrition strategy, private label, growth strategy, and new technology. I want to share a few of those questions and answers with you here, beginning with our approach to sustainable growth and the critical role of consumer centricity:

I would like to thank the team at Miriam's Kitchen for allowing me and Steve Presley to join a recent NestlĂ© kitchen volunteering shift in Washington DC. As a nonprofit working to end homelessness, Miriam’s Kitchen perfectly encapsulates the power of food. A high quality, hot meal opens the door to so much more: restoring your body and mind, building trust and connection and - in this case - even opening the door to critical social services, including ultimately housing. That was the case for Wesley Thomas, who had spent 29 years living on the street in DC when he was ultimately able to move into a home with help from Miriam’s Kitchen. Wesley shared his experience with us, and seeing his ongoing passion showed us the power that a regular high-quality meal can have.

My thanks to Scott Schenkelberg, Chef Cheryl Bell , and the whole team at MK, as well as the community affairs and partnerships team at Nestlé for bringing this partnership to life. #nonprofit #washingtondc
