Saturday night my car was broken into and they took one valuable thing, my passport in a leather Tumi case.
Then yesterday morning I got a cryptic message from someone saying they had my passport.. They said they had found it on the ground and sent an apartment address at a an old apartment complex for me to pick it up.
So I drove over.
(Yeah, the situation seemed a little sketchy, but apparently with covid it takes forever to get a new passport and I didnāt want to have to wait until next May to travel again.)
I drive up to the address and the door was open. He was a construction worker laying carpet in an old run down apartment. He smiled and pointed out where he found it and gave me my passport *still in the Tumi case* with everything still inside.
He was just a kind, honest guy who found my passport and went through the effort to track me down and help me get it back.
I went through my wallet to give him whatever cash I had to say thanks and he just rolled his eyes, threw down his hand and said in his broken English āgo give it to a poor person,ā then walked back inside.
And I donāt know... with so much bad/cynical news, his kindness just made me really happy so I wanted to share.
Huge shoutout to good people.
