𝐁𝐚𝐛𝐮: The organization is in the process of restructuring. I and 500 others were sacked.
𝗠𝗲: I’m so sorry to hear that. What’s the plan now?

𝗕𝗮𝗯𝘂: Preparing for an interview. It's next week.
𝗠𝗲: Amazing! Which company?

𝗕𝗮𝗯𝘂: My company only, which laid me off.
𝗠𝗲: ???

𝗕𝗮𝗯𝘂: They’re hiring as well for a new department.
𝗠𝗲: Seriously? Why did they layoff their existing workforce, then?

𝗕𝗮𝗯𝘂: They needed to show cost-cutting measures to investors.
𝗠𝗲: But then, why would they start fresh hiring?

𝗕𝗮𝗯𝘂: They also need to show new growth plans to their investors.
𝗠𝗲: *Facepalm*

“Experience“ doesn't mean “Ability“ - harsh truth of software engineering

Here's the deal:
- Experience ≠ Efficiency.
- Experience ≠ Innovation.
- Experience ≠ Dedication.

“Experience“ isn't a synonym for “Skill.“

It's true that experience can confer some benefits:
- Passive knowledge of workarounds
- Better intuition
- Improved communication skills

However, talent and skills can come in many forms.

Just because you've been working for 10 years doesn't mean you're the most effective at your job.

In software engineering, there are people with 4 years who can outshine those with 10 years.

Why?
Because they're:
- Constantly learning
- Willing to take risks
- Passionate
- Dedicated

Experience is a factor, but it's not the only one.

In the end, it's not just about what you can do - it's also about how you sell yourself and your work.
