βOn Winning Bronze.β
Have you noticed that a bronze Medal winner is generally happier (more happy) than a silver medal winner, at the end of the game.
Its not incidental finding but proven fact in many research studies after studying reactions of winner silver medal vs the winner bronze medal!
Ideally, a silver medal winner should be happier than the bronze medal winner. But, human mind doesn't work like mathematics.
This happens because of phenomenon of counterfactual thinking.
A concept in psychology in which there is human tendency to create possible alternatives to life events that have already happened, that would be contrary to what happened.
Sliver medalist thinks, βOh I couldn't win the gold medal.β Bronze medalist thinks, βAt least I got a medal.β
Silver medal is won after losing, but Bronze medal is won after winning (in various sporting events).
This happens in our life also, we don't appreciate what we have but feel sad for what we don't have. Let us be grateful for our blessings, they far outweigh our problems (if we start counting!)
Absolutely agree with this finding. Last paragraph sums up everything. In the process of trying to have more than what we already have, we tend to lose out on enjoying what we really have. We should be grateful for our blessings, and yes they definitely outweigh our problems.
Please look into yourself, appreciate all we have, and enjoy life to the full. Target for the next..
