It has been a year already.
When Pierre Bellon, Sodexo’s founder, passed away on January 31st last year, the messages that came from across the world – from former and current employees, from partners, from friends – all highlighted his truly unique personality. He seems to have always made a lasting impression!
From the start, he had a strategic vision for Sodexo. But he also remained very hands on: nothing made him happier than spending time with our teams on site.
He was a visionary on many levels. As early as 1966, he had a very modern understanding of the positive impact companies can have on their own teams, on society and on the environment, at a time when virtually no-one was talking about it.
For him, everyone was important. He saw potential in every single person he met. And at the same time, he was comfortable picking up his phone to call a CEO or a government official when he had an issue to raise or advice to give.
His memory lives on in the strong fundamentals and values that he gave Sodexo, on which we are still building today.
