I gave 9+ years of my life to a 9-5.

3 beliefs that trapped me (and how I kicked them out!)

Working in a 9-5 isn’t something alien to us.
Around 42% of people live & breathe this thing.

I too used to work in a publishing company.

And, I devoted almost 9 years of my life to them before parting ways in December 2023.

Here are 3 self-made beliefs that made me stay, and how I got rid of them.

1 — You Don’t Quit a ‘Good’ Job
Different people have different notions about what makes a job ‘good’.
→ Some say it’s high-paying.
→ Some say it comes with a fancy job title.
→ Some say if the company name is big enough to impress relatives, that’s all you NEED.

These notions somehow condition you to think that…
→ You can’t leave a so-called good job.

So, first flip the switch in your head.

Don’t make impractical decisions. Think logically.

Create your safety net first and then quit.

I did the same.

2 — It’s Too Risky to Start Over
Taking risks isn’t something that’s much appreciated by our society.

Whenever you try to do something that isn’t the norm, people will:
→ mock you
→ scare you
→ criticize you

Don’t listen to any of them (I know it’s hard, because I’ve been through it)

Just keep going.

Remember: You can start something on your own, even if you’re starting from scratch.

3 — Big Things Are For ‘Elite’ People Only
We just love undervaluing our skills & ourselves.

We often think people who make it big are:
→ privileged
→ well-connected
→ great at networking
→ blessed with super-fancy skills

I didn’t tick any of the boxes when I began my online journey.

I’ve learned (still learning) everything on my own.

You can do the same, too!

How?
Curate your inner circle. Read books. Watch quality content. Network. Work on yourself (physically & mentally). Remove naysayers from your life. Repeat.
