Big news - I’ve been #promoted!
After more than 4 years, I finally get the promotion that I’ve been waiting for. However, I do feel that I’m getting the lower end of the #promotion, because…
✅ More responsibilities = more opportunities for growth & advancement, both personally and professionally
✅ I’m getting a new (& fancy!) title - one that will stick with me forever & define who I am for the rest of my life
✅ New recognition and support from people within my team and elsewhere
✅ Additional perks when travelling, both for work and personal
✅ The promotion comes with a one-time gift bonus
✅ Guaranteed lifelong job stability (insyaAllah!)
✅ Work from home (or anywhere in the world) opportunity
❌ No increase in pay/salary
❌ I need to work at ungodly hours of the day, with no extra allowance
❌ On call 24/7, I have to drop everything if anything happens, whenever things happen
❌ On the receiving end of extreme fatigue and will probably not have enough sleep for quite some time
❌ I need to learn to multitask, more than I’ve ever done in my life
❌ Long-term financial commitment needed from my end
But I figured - eh, why not? It’s not something that is easy to come by, and people say that you should never turn down an opportunity for advancement, no?
I do have to say though - my new promotion does require me to take some time off from LinkedIn. My new boss is very, very bossy and needy, and needs me with them 24/7. And they won’t like it if I continue to create content on LinkedIn instead of attending to their needs.
Oh - and did I say what role it was?
I’m now officially a #firsttimemom to a beautiful #babygirl ! 🎉
