When I was trying to break into cybersecurity, I treated applying and networking like it was a second full-time job.

10+ applications a day.
Cold messages.
Follow ups.
Resume revisions.

I got way more NO’s than YES’s.

But I only needed one YES to change my life.

The job market is tough right now.
But tough does not mean impossible.

Today feels deeply personal for me.

My grandfather marched behind Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. during the Civil Rights Movement. I grew up in Montgomery, Alabama, where Dr. King led at Dexter Avenue Baptist Church, and where so much of the movement was organized.

Selma is right down the road. The history is not something I learned from a book. It is something I grew up around, something I carry with me, and something that shaped how I see the world.

This art piece is my way of honoring that legacy.

It represents resilience, faith, courage, and the belief that even in the face of rejection, resistance, and uncertainty, you keep showing up and pushing forward.

Growing up in Montgomery taught me that progress is never accidental. It comes from people who are willing to stand for something bigger than themselves.

The work we do today can echo for generations you may never meet. Keep going. Keep building. Keep believing.
