People with high EQ know there are some things you can't control.

But you can focus on your own actions.

You can't control:

- The outcome of your efforts
- The opinions of others
- The actions of others
- The future

You can control:

- The present
- The actions of yours
- The opinion of yourself
- The quality of your efforts

I like to think of it like this:

We often ask ourselves if what we're doing is worth it?
I believe this is the wrong approach.

The question of worth it is reliant on an outcome.
You shouldn't be doing anything for an outcome.

That's not the mindset to achieve something great.
The outcome happens if you make the best thing you can make.

It's a devotional practice. Whatever happens after, happens.

Too many people fall into the trap of the Sunk Cost Fallacy.

Time invested ≠ Progress.

Many stay in unfulfilling jobs because they've invested so much time.
The reason people do this is known as the Sunk Cost Fallacy.

The result?

Lack of progress and personal growth.

Here's how to break free:

1. Acknowledge Your Mistake:
↳ Realise it's okay to change direction.
↳ Admitting a mistake is a sign of strength, not weakness.

2. Evaluate Your Situation:
↳ Assess if staying aligns with your long-term goals.
↳ Sometimes quitting is the best decision.

3. Set New Goals:
↳ Create a plan that aligns with your passions.
↳ Focus on what excites you and sparks joy.

4. Take Action:
↳ Make a clear exit strategy.
↳ Start taking steps towards a better path.

Follow that last piece of guidance.

I quit a job last year after 4 months, with nothing lined up.
I've landed on my feet now, but I played a risky game!

Jumping ship with a plan in place is often the best thing you can do.

Your first try at anything will be bad.

Everyone has to earn their stripes.

Talent isn't implicit.

People CAN have a natural knack for something.
But talent is also a continuous practice.

According to Malcolm Gladwell, it takes 10,000 hours to master anything.

There are 3 pillars to this:

1. Deliberate Practice
↳ Practice with intention and seek improvement.

2. Mentorship
↳ Learn from those who have walked the path before you.

3. Intrinsic Motivation
↳ Passion fuels perseverance.

This is good to know, but it does cause initial anxiety.

Like that's too big a goal to achieve.

Remember this:

In order to monetise anything...
You don't have to master it. You just have to be good enough.

If you still like it after 1,000 hours, chances are you can do 10,000.
