Just a reminder that you’re interviewing them just as much as they’re interviewing you. Do your due diligence.

hiring managers will put candidates through 5 rounds of interviews instead of going to therapy
If the interviewer asks what mistakes you’ve made in past roles and what you learned from them, be sure to ask why people left this role previously and what they learned from the exit interviews to be a better employer.
This is why people leave jobs

To all recruiters that reach out to me on LinkedIn-

1) No I would not be interested in having a boss again.

2) No I would not like to wear pants during the work week.

Sincerely,

It’s ok not to be passionate about your job and just work to pay the bills.

Work positivity can be toxic, making people feel they should love the work they do, when really it's ok to not like working at all.

Rumor has it that every time you use the new laugh react on one of my posts a company has to include the salary range in their postings.

Since companies are so interested in the past, ask which ex-employees you can talk to.

I don’t know who needs to hear this but if you post a job just to gauge the responses you’re trash
I can’t say it enough. Stop self-eliminating. Apply.

Working from home is starting to feel like being in a casino.

Wandering around for snacks. No concept of time. Wondering who let these kids in. Having too much to drink and forgetting where the bathroom is.
Saw a job posting with “team outings like escape rooms” listed under benefits and I can only assume they don't want anyone to apply.
starting to get concerned that my kids will write a bad review about me on Glassdoor.

Someone told me yesterday they had their job offer rescinded bc they asked to negotiate. I say good riddance.
Help a laid off/furloughed coworker today!

Odds are (sadly) you know a coworker, client, or vendor that was let go from their employer in the past month.

Consider taking a quick second today to write them a recommendation on LinkedIn.

It’s not much, but they’ll appreciate being thought of. Not to mention prospective employers put a lot of weight into recommendations on the profile.

It looks like over the weekend I crossed 200k subscribers on my LinkedIn newsletter, and I'm about to cross 540K followers on here, so I thought this would be a good opportunity to (re)introduce myself to my network :)

Hi, I'm Adam!

I've been a recruiter since 2003, meaning I'm approximately 217 years old in recruiter years.

I believe certain things:

- There's too much career misinformation out there. The hiring conversation is too loud, with some of the loudest voices never having worked as a recruiter or used an ATS to hire. Views and likes are powerful motivators. So is money. Consider listening to those who have actually done the job.

- I believe sharing career info should be based on the goal of enlightening jobseekers and uplifting those who need help...not villainizing recruiters or scaring them with misinformation.

- Ranch dressing is an abomination. Why someone would choose to eat snot, I'll never know. Blue cheese is vastly superior. Welcome to Flavor Country.

- It's unnecessarily hard to find a job. For jobseekers, it's hard to play a game, let alone win, when you don't know the rules.

- Length matters. Stop trying to keep your resume to one page by leaving off relevant info.

- Cover letters *can* have value...if someone has something of value to say.

- Pineapple belongs on pizza. If you don't like it, I'm sorry you're dull.

- Experience and skill matter more than employment gaps.

- There is no one true way to find a job. Career advice has no absolutes. If anyone tells you that there is only one right way to do things, they don't know what they don't know.

- The hidden job market doesn't exist. It's weird that the only people who talk about it also charge you to access it.

- The ATS doesn't reject you...a recruiter does. If you aren't getting interviews, the recruiter isn't seeing your relevance. Don't blame Ultron.

- Career advice isn't just for those who can afford it. That's why I have a free weekly newsletter that answers your questions, warns you about job scams, and is a safe space for venting (and laughing). www(.)JobseekingIsHard(.)com

Most importantly, I believe in community. Looking for a job is one of the most stressful situations you will ever encounter. Financial anxiety. Imposter syndrome. Self-worth issues. Burnout.

Be kind to yourself, and be kind to others. We're all just trying to make it to Friday.
Jobseekers need to know they aren’t alone. They need to feel empowered, not tolerated. This is my “why.”

The resume’s *only* job is to show the reader how badass your relevant skills are. Be your own hype person.

So, how *do* you find out a job’s salary range BEFORE you apply? 🤔

You probably want to make sure the job is in your salary range before you take the necessary 17 hours to fill out the online application

Had the pleasure of chatting with Business Insider about it and 🚨 SPOILER ALERT 🚨 there’s nothing wrong with actually asking.

Check it out! (link in the comments bc algorithms)
