Honest Cover Letter:

“My ability to navigate ambiguity, as evidenced by my applying without knowing the actual salary range, is only outshined by my drive and determination, demonstrated by my willingness to manually input my information after uploading my resume.“
Just a reminder that you’re interviewing them just as much as they’re interviewing you. Do your due diligence.

Companies want to hire rockstars, but only want to pay for backup singers
hiring managers will put candidates through 5 rounds of interviews instead of going to therapy
Interviewer: tell me about the last time you overcame adversity

Candidate: when I completed your online application
nothing says “fast-paced” more than rejecting candidates before they apply

If the interviewer asks what mistakes you’ve made in past roles and what you learned from them, be sure to ask why people left this role previously and what they learned from the exit interviews to be a better employer.

If a company requires a project as part of their interview process, ask if they’d rather be charged hourly or a flat rate
To all recruiters that reach out to me on LinkedIn-

1) No I would not be interested in having a boss again.

2) No I would not like to wear pants during the work week.

It’s ok not to be passionate about your job and just work to pay the bills.

Work positivity can be toxic, making people feel they should love the work they do, when really it's ok to not like working at all.

Rumor has it that every time you use the new laugh react on one of my posts a company has to include the salary range in their postings.

Since companies are so interested in the past, ask which ex-employees you can talk to.

I don’t know who needs to hear this but if you post a job just to gauge the responses you’re trash
I can’t say it enough. Stop self-eliminating. Apply.

My initial thought when reading a job posting shouldn't be “are you looking to hire a person or a whole department?“
Looking for a fully-remote job that lets you work from anywhere?

FlexJobs just came out with a list of the top companies offering the most remote, work-from-anywhere jobs on their site that meet the following criteria:

✅ A fully remote job with the ability to work from anywhere with zero location restrictions.

✅ It does not require any time in the office and is 100% remote.

Here's a list of the top 10 companies and links to their open positions:

Working from home is starting to feel like being in a casino.

Wandering around for snacks. No concept of time. Wondering who let these kids in. Having too much to drink and forgetting where the bathroom is.
Saw a job posting with “team outings like escape rooms” listed under benefits and I can only assume they don't want anyone to apply.
Recruiters- Enough is enough
If you don't stop
The candidates will

You can do better
The candidates are onto us...
and they're exhausted

They're done with games

They know clients arent *all* “The Best”
“The best opportunity with my best client!!!”
(Exclamation points = THE BEST)

They know jobs aren’t *all* Exclusive”
“Oh, I can’t tell you who it is. It’s an EXCLUSIVE”
(I always imagine air quotes for EXCLUSIVE)

They know salaries aren't *all* “Open”
“Oh it’s open. What are you making?”
(Either you’re fishing or your lying. Or both.)

You don’t *need* the resume before talking
“I’d be happy to tell you my name, but I’m going to need a resume first”
(It’s lame. You’re lame. Don’t be lame.)

Who are you fooling?

Don’t embarrass yourself

All of your clients aren’t the best
Your jobs aren’t exclusive
Your jobs have salary ranges
You don’t need the resume to chat

Work *with* the candidates
Not *against* them

Just be honest
Be transparent
Be helpful

It’s really not that hard
starting to get concerned that my kids will write a bad review about me on Glassdoor.

Someone told me yesterday they had their job offer rescinded bc they asked to negotiate. I say good riddance.
Help a laid off/furloughed coworker today!

Odds are (sadly) you know a coworker, client, or vendor that was let go from their employer in the past month.

Consider taking a quick second today to write them a recommendation on LinkedIn.

It’s not much, but they’ll appreciate being thought of. Not to mention prospective employers put a lot of weight into recommendations on the profile.

There’s a simple reason companies can’t find people to hire: supply and demand. Workers are demanding more pay and companies don’t want to supply it.
