How I animate my network diagrams:

(steal my secret using this free tool!!)

I've been seeing a ton of cool animated diagrams and wanted to know how to get the same effect.

Turns out, it was already available in one of my favorite tools - draw.io

Follow these steps:

1. Go to draw.io
2. Create your diagram
3. Select lines for flow animation
4. Export to URL & use your fav gif-maker app

Now you're ready to animate anything ¨̮

Try it out for yourself using the link below:

P.S. Did you know this cool tool existed?
I asked engineers at AWS re:Invent “what is the cloud?“

Here's what they had to say:

It's very likely that you interact with the cloud every day.

Your favorite Netflix movies stream from the cloud
Your company's email runs in Google's data centers
Your favorite games save progress on remote servers

In many ways, the cloud is someone else's computer.

(and yes - there are more clouds than just iCloud)

Huge shoutout to ☁Chris Williams, Rishab Kumar, Trevor Spires, Viktoria Semaan, Sean, Linda Haviv, Christopher Gunn, and William Collins for being good sports :)

Had so much fun making this last week!!

P.S. how would you explain the cloud?
Network diagrams are essential documentation.

They help to show visually how your devices, connections, protocols, and services are configured and interact with each other.

Having up to date documentation helps with:
- team collaboration
- adding upgrades
- expansions
- security
- audits

They should be updated and maintained regularly to reflect the current state of your network.

One of my favorite free diagramming tools is draw.io.

You can use the online version by going to draw.io in your browser, or the integrations with Confluence or Jira.

P.S. Are your network diagrams up to date????
I'm so excited to be joining the 2025 Cisco Champions!!

They have consistently been one of the communities I've looked up to the most over the past few years.

Finding a community, club, or technical group is sooo important when it comes to growth as an engineer.

- meeting peers
- finding mentors
- learning together

The more you put in, the more you'll get out.

Nothing great was designed in a vacuum.

Can't wait to bring you all along on this crazy journey.

P.S. are you part of a technical community?

Your employer should be EARNING your commute. 🚘🚖🏙️

In a world where most office jobs can be done remotely…

What is drawing people back to the office?

Is it the people? 👩🏼‍💼👨🏽‍💼

➡️ Wanting to socialize with others?

The environment? 🏢

➡️ A chance to get out of the house?

The experience?

Take a look at how Cisco’s reinventing the workspace at the link below:
