“Perfection kills talent” says Prof. Andrew P Hills from York St. John University

In my case I have seen this many times, especially when having to adapt to a new language. English, Portuguese, German… After living in 5 different countries, I have concluded that trying to speak the language perfectly actually kills your ability to speak at all.

Living in Europe 🇪🇺 where every bunch of kms you have a new language, it’s even more visible. But also the reaction of the people there… Have you had the same response in some of the countries when trying to speak the language? Had to laugh in the Spanish case 😂

The studies that Prof. Hill is leading seem to point to the fact that learning to be being sufficient is good enough will be a great “antidote” to perfectionism - a way for #talent to survive

Avoiding perfectionism not only helps getting things done but also avoids #mentalhealth problems such as #burnout

So like in ventures, when learning a language I guess that going for the MVP is a great way to test and grow from… rather than trying to launch the final product! Don’t you think? 🤔
