Today the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v Wade - eliminating the federal, constitutional right to an abortion and leaving the decision up to each state. I am deeply saddened by this decision. I believe that access to abortion is part of basic healthcare; that it is not only a fundamental human right, but also a vital part of building an inclusive and high-functioning society.Ā This is a step backward for both our individual freedoms and our collective prosperity.

At Vimeo we support any health-related decision that an individual makes for themselves. We don't support taking that freedom away from our employees. We have Vimeans who live in states where abortion will now be banned or restricted – for those people, we are instituting new policies to safeguard their access to abortions, no questions asked. Effective today, Vimeo has added coverage for travel and lodging expenses that can be reimbursed through our medical plan for anyone needing to travel out of state for an abortion.Ā

Today I am sharing my next adventure, as the incoming CEO of Tubi!

Anyone who knows me knows that I believe in the power of video. No other medium has the ability to bring stories to life in a deeply personal way, while simultaneously reaching every corner of the globe.

My focus (obsession) over the last decade has been on empowering video creators, by giving more people the tools to create compelling content and reach their audience.

I'm excited to be dedicating my next chapter to empowering audiences. We are witnessing a seismic shift in where and how content will be consumed, and I hope to play a role in shaping the future of entertainment, by giving all people access to all the world's stories.

Tubi was launched in 2014 by two entrepreneurs, and is today the most watched free ad-supported TV streaming service in the United States. The service has scaled without investing in expensive original content, but rather by amassing the world’s largest library of long-tail movies and TV series, and by applying algorithms and data science to create a more personalized experience.

And it’s working - Tubi reaches 64 million monthly active users and recently surpassed HBO Max and Peacock in total TV viewing minutes. Interestingly, Tubi’s audience is growing the fastest among younger, more diverse viewers and those interested in special-interest verticals. I am betting that Tubi can become the destination for the next generation of audiences, who are not only cutting the cord but also spending more of their time on YouTube and TikTok than traditional streaming services. Tubi is doing things differently in a space that is being imminently disrupted, and that is my kind of opportunity.

I start in September, and will be spending the rest of the summer transitioning Vimeo into very capable hands. To the Tubi team - I can’t wait to go down this rabbit hole with you, and shape the next generation of entertainment together! 🧔 šŸ“ŗ 🐰
