“Thank you” to all IBMers. I’m proud of what we have achieved this year and I am excited for the road ahead and what we will accomplish together, serving our clients across the world. Today and every day, I believe IBM’s greatest strength is the IBMer. #ProudIBMer
We recently cut the ribbon for Europe’s first IBM Quantum Data Center with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and representatives from partners across Europe in attendance.

With the launch of this collaboration, we are providing companies, research institutions, academia, and government agencies with more options for accessing cutting-edge quantum computing.

IBM has long shown our commitment to Europe’s quantum ecosystem. Today, organizations in Europe are making a lasting impact on the field of quantum; 80 European organizations are accessing IBM quantum computers at present, 850 European developers are certified with IBM Quantum learning badges, and over 100,000 European learners are using IBM Quantum Learning. This European Data Center is the next stage in that commitment and an opportunity for world-leading scientific institutions in Europe to continue pushing the boundaries of #quantumcomputing .
It was an honor to join President Biden for today’s White House #cybersecurity summit, where I shared steps IBM is taking to strengthen defenses and build a more diverse cyber workforce.
Today Red Hat announced that it has named Matt Hicks as president and chief executive officer, succeeding Paul Cormier, who will serve as chairman. Read more:
I watched the news of the shooting at President Trump’s rally last night with horror. My thoughts are with him and with the other victims of this appalling act. Violence of any kind is intolerable and must be condemned, and violence at an otherwise peaceful political gathering is the absolute enemy of our democracy.
IBM continues to build on its extensive software portfolio while bringing together leading capabilities in integration, API management, and data ingestion. I am proud to share that the acquisition of StreamSets and webMethods from Software AG is complete.

This acquisition will help our clients turn complexities into competitive advantage.

➕ StreamSets Inc. adds cloud-based, real-time data ingestion capabilities for data to IBM’s AI and data platform, #watsonx.

➕ webMethods brings Integration Platform as a Service (PaaS) capabilities to IBM’s Automation solutions.

Former IBM SVP and Director of Research Ralph Gomory is this year’s recipient of the National Science Board (NSB)’s prestigious Vannevar Bush Award.

His vision set the standard for many modern research labs, and he modeled the positive role that industry leaders can play in the advancement of science. Under his leadership, IBM Research became one of the major corporate research institutions in the world, achieving two Nobel Prizes in physics and numerous breakthroughs that were fundamental to the advancement of the information revolution. Density storage. Memory devices. New silicon processing methods. The RISC computer architecture. The concept of fractals. I could go on and on.

I echo the words of IBM Chairman John F. Akers back in 1989: “Ralph’s contributions to the scientific and technological leadership of IBM are immeasurable.”

Pleased join me in congratulating Ralph, thanking him for his immense contributions and celebrating his legacy.
