...And my journey at TikTok/ByteDance comes to an end exactly after 1 year and 2 months.
I have nothing but immense gratitude for the wonderful opportunity. During my time here, I got the opportunity to contribute to products like Web ads, Shop Ads, Trust & Safety (TnS) for TikTok. Moreover, I also got to work on some foundational research direction as part of Seed LLM project.
I was devastated looking at the model codes on my first day of the job. From that day till today, I have observed tremendous growth in my ML skills, communication, task planning, model iterations and most importantly, decision making. It was indeed because of the brightest colleagues in AML-Algorithms-USA team.
Working on Ads recommendation has helped me a lot in understanding industry scale system. I was able to see how changes in ML algorithms directly impact business metrics like Ads revenue and conversions. My knowledge about ML modeling, probability distribution, loss designing, and optimizers has consistently improved throughout my time here.
Although I worked on both RecSys and LLM projects here at TikTok, I think I should shift my focus entirely to Generative AI. IMO, It is the best time to get into GenAI research and I think it will help my career in the long term. So, I decided to move on from ByteDance.
Btw, this was my first job in the USA and thus, it will always remain special. ❤️
