🌿 A little bit of green can make a big change! 🌿

πŸŒ† Observe the contrast on the same street when measuring the temperature. The asphalt road registered a scorching high of 33 degrees Celsius, while the newly installed semi-hardened parking lots showed a considerably lower temperature of 21 degrees Celsius. πŸš—πŸŒ³

πŸ™οΈ πŸƒ #BiophilicDesign and #Biophilia #architecture}are incredible ways to infuse our built environments with nature. As shown here, they can significantly reduce the heat in cities, absorb CO2, and produce more oxygen for human and nature's health. πŸŒžπŸ‚ 🌱 Lets heal our #cities with #biophilia - #naturebasedsolutions, #Nature, #connectedness. Let's bring back that vital connection to nature that modern society has lost. 🌍

🌳 This twelve-degree difference is a powerful eye-opener on how urban planning and green infrastructure can play a crucial role in mitigating urban heat islands and creating sustainable, resilient cities for future generations. πŸ™οΈπŸŒΏ

Moreover, it's fascinating to explore the blend of techniques and technology that propel us towards greener and easily maintainable green infrastructure. πŸŒ±πŸ’‘

This 76m2 Living Wall in the heart of London by Lonson Bridge is sustainable. There is no wasted water.

You will notice an orange down pipe to the LHS of the Living Wall. This 100mm downpipe directs rainwater from the roof into a large storage tank in the basement of the building. A rainwater harvesting tank.

If you look closely you may also spot a black gutter below the living wall. This directs surplus irrigation run-off back into the tank.

Moreover, the Fytotextile living wall system allows for unlimited root spread which enables us to grow large specimens.

All so important to us as we continue to set the bar high in urban greening initiatives to encourage sustainable biodiversity into our cities.

Amsterdam is repurposing 10.000m2 of rooftops with smart roofs that help catch and reuse rainwater, boost city biodiversity AND reduce urban heating! 🌱 🐝

The project aims at demonstrating and scientifically validating function and value of the combination of Blue (rainwater catchment, storage and reuse) and Green (biodiverse) roofs for resilient and climate adaptive cities, not for the future, but for today.
