Life admin takes up mental space.

Which is why everyone at Great Influence gets half a day off every month to sort out our lives, however we choose 🤍

The last thing in the whole world I want to do when I get home from work is go to the post office…

But today I’ve; done returns, put 400 (2) loads of washing on, tidied up my space and ticked off the boring things on my to-to list.

Feeling lighter already 😌

Things the team do not need to ask my permission for:

Can I work from home tomorrow?
Can I go to my doctors appointment?
Can I leave early to get the train?
Can I have my lunch now?
Can I go to the toilet? 😂

I've asked been all of these at some point or another, and for me it just shows the pressure that people have been put under to be always on.

And that somewhere along the way, they were made to feel that someone didn't trust them.

Our team is made up of exceptionally bright, intelligent people with bucket loads of common sense.

So I trust them to do get their job done without questioning every movement 🤷🏼‍♀️

All I can think about is if this was 3 years ago, I'd be in my final stint of uni, just about to go into the most difficult but equally the most (absolutely ridiculously) fun term of the whole thing. All to be topped off with a cute, well deserved, graduation to celebrate 4 years of hard work.

My heart goes out to every single student that may no longer have this privilege.

Keep moving, keep doing, keep learning and I have NO DOUBTS it will still all pay off.

5 things my grandma has asked me on every one of these phone calls, and every phone call we ever have:

Are you ok?
Are you happy?
Are you enjoying yourself?
Are you having a good time?
Are you getting on with everyone ok?

She couldn’t tell you what I do for a job 😂 but also, it doesn’t really matter.

As long as all the answers to those questions are a yes…(and they are).

I think a lot more people would benefit from taking a leaf out of my grandma’s book and prioritising these questions over 'what do you do?' or 'what's your company called?'

Her last job might have been in the 1960s, but she definitely knows what she's talking about 😂
