BREAKING: OpenAI has just released the official ChatGPT and Whisper APIs! This has been a long awaited development. The ChatGPT API is priced at $0.002 per 1k token, which is claimed to be a 10X reduction in cost over the first iteration of this service.

Whisper is priced at $0.006 per minute. Whisper is a speech-to-text model that has been open-sourced in September 2022, and all the model wights are also publicly available. Nonetheless, a cheap and easy-to-use API could be the right solution for anyone who doesn't want the additional cost of and hustle of having a dedicated local server.

In the announcement, OpenAI has mentioned several early users of the API, including Snap Inc. and Instacart. The number of apps and use cases will probably grow exponentially in the matter of days.

Some exciting news - Google has just announced Gemma, a family of lightweight open source LLM models based on the same research and technology as Gemini. The 2B and 7B weights have been released today.

At NVIDIA we have been collaborating with the Gemini team to make these weights and models immediately available to our partners, developers, and customers. An optimized release with TensorRT-LLM gives users the ability to develop with LLMs using only a desktop with an NVIDIA RTX GPU.
