I got an offer letter signed today from a candidate who I met on LinkedIn. The candidate reached out to Carleton Green who sent her to me. WorkšŸ‘šŸ½youršŸ‘šŸ½networkšŸ‘šŸ½!

After I was done extending the offer, the candidate said, ā€œNow, I completely understand the #RecruiterCousin experience…WHITEšŸ‘šŸ½GLOVEšŸ‘šŸ½SERVICEšŸ‘šŸ½. I blushed a little bit 🄰. The recruiting process shouldn’t be difficult. Youre stressed enough. I’m not going to add to it by giving you a terrible experience. That makes no sense.

Have a great weekend everyone šŸ’œ

When I broke into tech, it wasn’t my intent to break into tech. Simply put, I received an email from LinkedIn telling me Microsoft was looking for recruiters. I simply felt led to apply. I understand the process isn’t seamless for everyone but it was seamless for me. That’s how I knew it was God. Because this was a God thing, I made a subconscious promise to Him, that I would serve. In 10 months, God grew my following from 2200 to 60K+ on LinkedIn. When I started doing these videos, I was just being silly. I didn’t know people needed them forreal. I’m so happy God decided to use me in this way.

I write my posts at night sometimes because that’s when God speaks. I’ll think of something and say to myself, ā€œPeople need to hear that.ā€ I’ve lost some things but gained so much more in the process. All in all, no matter what, I’m a servant first. Tech recruiter is a privilege but being a servant leader is a gift I don’t take lightly because I do it with a pure heart and the best intentions to encourage everyone to be better.

I say this as a black woman taking up space in tech with natural hair and being a Jesus freak. I haven’t had to be anything else. I haven’t had to put on any masks or sensor how I say things. Just being me is enough.

When you’re at #Afrotech and you slip out of the conference to make an offer to a candidate who accepted!!!!!!

For the most recent positions I posted, check the latest featured post on my profile. I am about to add another role.

Sidenote: I am not at Afrotech representing Microsoft but I found this picture in my phone and it was appropriate for this post! šŸ˜‚

✨DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT BEING PAID FOR THIS—IT IS OUT OF THE KINDNESS OF MY HEART✨

I’ve reached a point where I have to give this disclaimer so if you see it more often, that’s why. šŸ¤¦šŸ½ā€ā™€ļø

If you are watching me, keep watching because the one thing I will do is continue to be a light in a very dark world. I lost count of how many times I’ve said, ā€œI’m so sorry to hear about your layoff.ā€ Quite honestly, I will keep saying it until the market get better. While I may be smiling in this picture, #RecruiterCousin has had to do more self-talk than I have in a while. I want you to continue your self talk. God hasn’t left you or me. Let’s keep pushing and let’s work!

✨Working Late On A Friday✨

While most of America has started their weekend, I decided to work late because I just debriefed with one of my teams on the west coast and they decided to make an offer. Let me be clear, I am never expected to work late especially on a Friday. Its my choice. My reasoning is because I had a candidate waiting on whether the team would hire her or not. I don’t care how late it is, I don’t believe in making my candidates wait the weekend for them to hear, ā€œMy hiring manager wants to make you an offer.ā€ I prefer you take the weekend to celebrate, not worry about whether you passed your interview.

In this market, that is something every jobseeker needs to hear. I’m honored I get to be apart of changing someone’s life. For this candidate, it was her first role after college. For my other candidate, I had the honor of helping to bring him back to Microsoft.

I ended today with two offer accepts! Now, I can enjoy my weekend!
