As a Nigerian living in the UK, I've come to notice several key differences between these two countries. Some of these differences are positive, while others can be challenging.

Here are some of the things that stand out to me👇🏽

1. The weather: The UK is known for its rainy and cold weather, whereas Nigeria is generally sunny and warm. As a result, adjusting to the weather is difficult.

2. Food: Nigerian cuisine is very different from British cuisine, and if you don’t live in an area where Nigerian restaurants are available, it might be a big challenge for you (especially if you are used to the food back home)

3. Transportation: The UK has a well-developed public transportation system, whereas, in Nigeria, transportation can be more difficult and less reliable, especially in rural areas where roads may not be well-maintained.

4. Culture: The cultural differences between the UK and Nigeria are vast, from the way people interact with each other to the holidays and celebrations they observe.

5. Education: The UK has a strong education system with many prestigious universities, However, it can also be expensive to attend university in the UK, especially for international students. Also, In Nigeria, there are fewer opportunities for higher education, and it can be difficult to get accepted into top universities.

6. Healthcare: Healthcare is free in the UK (this depends on the visa you’re on, whereas, in Nigeria, it can be expensive and difficult to access.

7. Cost of living: The cost of living is generally higher in the UK than in Nigeria. Things like Housing, transportation, and food can all be more expensive.

8. Safety: The UK is considered to be a safe country, with low levels of violent crime. However, there are still risks, especially in certain parts of London and other major cities. In Nigeria, there is a higher crime rate, which can be a concern for residents and visitors alike.

9. Job opportunities: The UK offers more job opportunities, particularly in certain industries such as technology and finance (However, competition for jobs can be fierce). In Nigeria, job opportunities can be more limited, especially outside of major cities.

10. Quality of life: This is a question that is subjective to some people. To some, they feel living in Nigeria is better than UK and vice versa.

So, is living in the UK worth it in the end? That's a question that many Nigerians and others who have moved to the UK answered when we had this conversation at my show The DFY Talk Show. To listen, check it out on youtube using this link- https://lnkd.in/dzzTMNgp

Finally, if you live in the UK as a Nigerian or African, do you think it has been worth it? And if you currently live in Nigeria, would you love to come to the UK to stay?

I’ve been working tirelessly behind the scene on some projects and I’d like to share the results with you.

Before I do that, I want to take a moment to appreciate you for being a huge supporter of my brand.

Your regular contribution to my posts, endless DMs, active participation on the DFY talk show on LinkedIn Audio, recommendations and collaboration requests have been amazing and I say a big thank you for being a part of my network.

I remember when LinkedIn was doing their super clean up a few months ago, over 25k followers were removed from my account. I moved from 175k to 150k but I wasn’t bothered as I was more interested in quality over quantity. And today, we are over 180k people stronger and it’s incredible to have you in my network.

So back to the projects,

🟣 My company- Royal Brand Academy has officially launched 💃🏽🕺🏼.

RBA is a company that focuses on helping company and personal brands build their online presence on LinkedIn and beyond (which means we are not restricted to LinkedIn only).

We offer services like page audit and branding strategies, profile optimization, content strategy and creation, thought leadership and executive branding and training programs for both corporate and personal brands.

Be sure to check out our website Royal Brand Academy.

🔵 My Biweekly LinkedIn show called the DFY Talk Show has rebranded and it’s now The DFY Show Podcast. We moved from a regular talk show to a show that is now a podcast episode series and it’s available on Apple Podcast and Spotify (@thedfyshow).

As a result, I would be doing a lot of solo episodes where I share my expertise and provide you with valuable resources that can help you scale and build your business in the area of branding, marketing and entrepreneurship.

Another interesting thing is that my LinkedIn audio event topics henceforth would be from the podcast episodes which means that insights shared on a particular topic from the podcast will be discussed at the audio event.

So, you are encouraged to listen to the podcast before the show so you can be able to contribute and ask you questions if you have any😊. (I’ve already dropped an episode which you’d find insightful so you can go listen 🎧 now).

Finally, I’d love to have your feedback on areas you want me to serve you better or things you want me to talk about either on the podcast or here on LinkedIn. Kindly send me a DM or drop a comment 😁

One of my most frequently asked questions about branding is “How can an Introvert build his/her personal brand?”

To answer that question, I’d like to give a practical illustration which is myself.

I am an introvert even though my husband keeps arguing I’m not because of my online presence and how I relate with people🤷🏽‍♀️.

But you see, the power of an introvert lies in the ability to stay quiet and listen to their own thoughts and as a Christian, this helps your walk with the Holy Spirit as you can listen when he speaks to you.

When you understand the uniqueness of an introvert, you make what you think is your weakness turn into your strength.

👌🏽We introverts don’t crave attention or the limelight. As a result, when you care less about getting validation from someone, you build up patience in building your brand.

👌🏽We introverts take our time before talking. As a result, before content is put out, a lot of listening, reflection, knowledge analysis and due diligence have been carried out; this makes your content rich and worthy of attention.

👌🏽We introverts don’t mind networking as extroverts when necessary. This helps you to know more people and build your network.

👌🏽 We Introverts don’t mind taking on solo projects. This attribute helps you to take up several tasks that doesn’t require people when building your brand like hosting events, selling your services to people in unique ways and trying different content format to see the one that resonates well with your audience.

On the aspect of showing up, I’d say start small and build gradually. You can start with writing long-form content, then you progress to taking pictures and adding them to your post.

Brand building is a process and when you rush to get results, it might lead to burnout and frustration which is why I always advise people to “know themselves and their capacity”.

I want to say a big thank you to Favikon and Jeremy Boissinot for the hard work put into making content creators visible.

I was ranked
👉🏽 No. 4 in the top 100 creators Nigeria
👉🏽 No. 27 in the top 200 female creators worldwide
👉🏽 No. 120 in the top 200 creators worldwide.

I return all the glory to the Holy Spirit for his constant help though whispering the right words to my heart when words fail me. He makes my content ride on the wings of the wind and allows men to get inspired by them.

Finally, thank you for supporting this brand and I hope this post inspires you, especially introverts to come out and start being visible😊.

Several elements make a strong personal brand and image and appearance are part of it.

Like I always say, when I started on LinkedIn, I came as a personal brand photographer because I knew how effective and powerful images are.

The truth is, it takes time for people to digest who you are and to trust you. But the moment you attach a quality image of yourself and show them YOU, they are quick to adjust. Also, the more you put yourself out, the more they get you registered in their minds.

For me, I love lifestyle pictures as compared to a regular studio shoot because I get to add a blend of my environment and I’m more flexible with styling and poses. (I’d share more details about how to get the best of branding shoot in my next newsletter).

Photos I took from my branding shoot have been used in different parts of my branding including
* Email Signature
* Social Media
* Bio Headshots
* Podcast Covers
* Website
* Digital Business Card and many more.

I've attached a behind-the-scenes video from my past branding photoshoot. So you can get a sneak peek of how we brought the photos into life and I hope it makes you smile😊.

Remember, your personal brand is your story and personal branding photos help that story shine, even in a world of AI.

💬What are your thoughts on personal branding photos? Check out the video and share your insights in the comments.
