Better late than never! Here’s my thank you list for 2021

2021 has been a teacher - it has taught me so much of value.

1. Being the mother of two: My younger son turned one year old in 2021. This second innings of motherhood has been blissful and has taught me so much more about patience, kindness and love.

2. My loved ones that have been my rock: I wouldn’t have been able to see through the rollercoaster that last year was if it wasn’t for the unwavering support of my family. They have, do and always will be a big part of who I am.

3. There’s no substitute for self-care: If I am not taking care of myself, then I can’t take care of anyone or anything else.Half an hour’s workout, be it a swim, be it a HIIT session, or cycling without fail, every single day.

4. Routines: Especially with little ones at home, a routine for them (and myself) has been a blessing in bringing structure to my day. Whether it’s planning my work day (to the extent it permits!) or with kids- reading to them, learning with them or playing - routine activities with my kids are some of the fondest memories from 2021 that I’ll look back on.

And of course,
5. The entire BYJU’S family: For their unrivalled dedication to help the world fall in love with learning and help students learn better, for constantly raising the bar in excellence for the past one decade and for embodying the spirit of #KeepLearning for the decades to come!

So what have you been thankful for in 2021?

Keep 36 all out, out of your mind.
Keep believing that you can win the war even if you lose a battle.
Keep the courage that comes with youth.
Keep the pain of the injuries for another day.
Keep the sledging behind the stumps.
Keep letting the bat and ball do all your talking.
Keep converting those losses into draws.
Keep turning those draws into wins.
Keep stretching the boundaries of your dreams.
Keep proving the world wrong.
Keep winning!

Thank you for the life lessons, Team India.

Congratulations on a historic series win.

#thislittlegirlisme

She was the only child, born to a mother who used to work as a television producer with Doordarshan, one of the country’s first broadcasters.

At the time for a woman to step out of the house and pursue a career was uncommon, to say the least, but this little girl grew up watching her mother be fiercely independent and exceptionally grounded at the same time.

She’d eagerly wait for her mother to get back home in the evening because she couldn’t wait to hear stories from her day at work. What new problem did she solve today? How did she find her way around it? This little girl was filled with questions and her mother would answer each one of them patiently like she was the only thing in the world that was important in that moment.

As this little girl grew up and pursued her own dreams, she had moments of apprehension about how she’d juggle it all. But in those moments of doubt, the memory of her mother setting her boundaries, fearlessly pursuing her goals while giving her the bedrock of a happy childhood became her source of strength that she too could someday do the same.

On #InternationalDayofTheGirlChild I hope you raise the girls in your life with the unshakable belief that career and family are not two roads that diverge, but a beautiful journey that runs parallelly. There is nothing more unfortunate than a girl who doesn’t unlock her potential because of societal ideals of gender roles but the silver lining is that the change for that can start from us and it can start today.

If you want to help girls in need build the life they deserve with quality education, you can join our efforts at BYJU’S Education For All along with our renowned NGO partners. You can participate by visiting our website here: https://lnkd.in/gPByWjB6

ā€œWe do not inherit the earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children,ā€œ is one of the most thoughtful quotes on how we need to treat our planet.

When we care with the environment, we set an example for our children and our future generations that this world is just as much their home as it is of all other magnificent creatures on Earth. It falls on us to lead the way, such that our children grow up to nurture the natural world around them too.

Our continuity as a human race depends on how well we take care of our environment that's been handed over to us over generations.

Earth is the only home that we have.

What are some ways in which you connect with the environment?

On days when you have too many things to juggle, multitasking can sometimes come back to haunt you. In such times I've found that switching modes and focusing on one task at a time helps me get things done better!

Prioritisation is an invaluable skill.

How do you prioritise your day?

Young India does it again. šŸŽ‰ The Indian men's badminton team scores one for the history books by raising the first ever Thomas Cup for India.

As a country, India has had a long tryst with sports and you'll find talent in every corner of the nation. Seeing these determined sportspersons chase their passion and now rise to the top is incredibly inspiring.

Congratulations again Team India. Thank you for giving all of us a new milestone to celebrate and for shaping the spirit of sports for the athletes to come!

A book can transcend, transform and transport us to a world filled with love and knowledge.

When you read the right book, it feels like you can conquer the world. When you read the perfect book, you feel like you will be forever loved in this beautiful šŸŒ .

One such book is Charlie Mackesy’s The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse. This illustrated book teaches us how to live without fear, with our friends… for some cake. If you ever feel low, this is the book to read. If you start noticing hate, read the book again to relearn kindness and rediscover love.

Here are 10 pearls of wisdom that I have gathered from the four friends:

šŸ“– Be kind as you grow up. And be the kindest to yourself.

šŸ“– Everybody is scared. But we are less scared together.

šŸ“– Asking for help does not mean giving up. It means refusing to give up.

šŸ“– The biggest waste of time is comparing yourself to others.

šŸ“– The greatest illusion is that life should be perfect.

šŸ“– When life seems difficult, think about who you love.

šŸ“– There is absolutely nothing to prove. You are enough as you are.

šŸ“– There is more love in this world than you can possibly imagine.

šŸ“– You are loved. Love wins in the end. You are a winner.

šŸ“– Everyone is just trying to get home…

…Love brings you home.

My day usually starts with my son’s online classes where he is greeted by a grid of happy faces that now form a part of his unique schooling experience. While my focus for those few hours is on the little human sitting on this side of the screen, by virtue of being an educator, I also find myself thinking of the person on the other side of the screen, someone who made my son’s learning possible throughout the pandemic - the teacher.

In millions of cities and towns across the country, teachers were faced with the challenge of teaching online for the first time in their lives. They had to swap their blackboard, a trusted companion, with new methods that were unfamiliar to them. But a year on, it’s the grace and dedication with which they took on this challenge that stays with me. No matter their age, or the infrastructure available to them, they found a way to upskill themselves and did not give up on their students’ learning - that’s a level of grit that sets their profession apart.

This Teachers’ Day, I hope you join me in paying a tribute to those teachers who had the spirit to #KeepLearning so students could continue learning.

Thank you for the amazing work you do, every single day šŸ™

It has been an incredible entrepreneurial journey for me to see how technology can be harnessed to create meaningful engagement in education. In my recent interview with Khaleej Times , I delve into my passion for education, my journey as an entrepreneur, a teacher, and most importantly a lifelong learner.

From being an 'accidental educator' to becoming a passionate teacher to launching our learning app in 2015 and transitioning to an entirely online platform, the in-depth story shares insights on how we've been able to create great content and leverage tech in the right way to improve learning outcomes and create a positive difference more opportunities for students

The EdTech industry is growing, but the companies that will stand out are those with great content and the ability to leverage technology in the right way. Those that can enhance human potential. After all, Tech is not just about digitizing a textbook but about bringing together content and pedagogy in a beautiful way.

I hope you enjoy my interview and it inspires you to keep learning and growing. You will find the link in my comments below.

Thank you Sushmita Bose for encapsulating our interaction so well and bringing it to life

Hockey has a special place in my heart. My maternal grandfather was an avid hockey player who would sneak out of his hostel to play. I remember the lumps on his hands which came from injuries during play , from the hockey stick. It was he who encouraged my mother to play sports in an era where it was not common for girls to take up sports. I remember him and celebrate his passion for hockey every time India plays.

Today, India started their Men’s Hockey World Cup campaign with a brilliant and brave 2-0 victory over Spain!

With this, the men in blue have answered the question, ā€˜How is India going to handle the pressure of playing on their home soil?’

They are going to win it to the tune of ā€˜jeetega bhai jeetega, India jeetega’.

There was just so much pent-up energy and excitement in the beautiful city of Rourkela in the lead up to this game. With a winning streak that includes an Olympic medal, a Commonwealth Games medal, and fierce competition against top teams, the dream is on for India to bring home the coveted World Cup trophy after a long wait.

A big shout out to the people and government of Odisha for their generous patronage and continuous support to the national game of India.

Chak de India.

Meet Alice Waters, a true pioneer in the world of food who has transformed the way we approach our meals. Through her life's work, Alice Waters has conveyed a powerful message: we are not separate from nature; we are an essential part of it.

Alice has gracefully taught us the beauty of simple and ā€œslowā€ food, reminding us of the richness that lies in the natural flavours of ingredients. Her restaurant, Chez Panisse, became the catalyst for a revolution, sparking the farm-to-table movement that has reshaped the culinary landscape. By emphasizing the quality of ingredients over elaborate techniques and nurturing direct relationships with local farmers, she showed us the importance of knowing where our food comes from.

Beyond her influence in the kitchen, Alice ignited a counterculture movement that reconnected us with the roots of our food. With a steadfast commitment to local, organic, and sustainably sourced ingredients, she has brought awareness to the impact of our food choices on our health and the environment.

One of Alice Waters' most significant achievements is the founding of the Edible Schoolyard Project, an organization that has revolutionized food education in over 5,000 schools. By pioneering ā€˜edible education,’ she has empowered countless children to develop a lifelong appreciation for nutritious, wholesome meals.

I believe that the secret to a long, healthy life is quite simple. It lies in enjoying good food three times a day, slowly. Just like our grandparents. We are what we eat, and we should never forget our local farmers, who embody the essence of hard work, resilience, and the love for the land. By buying directly from them, we transcend the transactional nature of commerce.

Good, honest food, procured from good, honest farmers. Alice Waters taught us the importance of embracing this fundamental connection.
