It was my 38th birthday yesterday. I had such a great time celebrating. I took some time to reflect about the last decade while celebrating. I have come so far due to my hard work, smart work, and being given opportunities by other people. Of course, the grace of God has been the most important factor in my growth.

My interest in the education sector, skills development for young people, the future of work, tech, talent and organisational development remains as solid as ever.

I leave you with these words - work hard and smart, invest in your personal and professional development, and depend on your God. All your dreams will come through!

When I relocated (or as they now say, japa) to the UK over a decade ago I came to the realisation that my own destiny was in my hands. I realised that if I have high level skills I will get a high level job. And if I have low level skills I will end up in a low level job. At one time I registered with Manpower in Harrow, London and they wanted me to go and be cleaning a school. I rejected that job immediately because I felt it was below me, especially after graduating with a distinction in my MSc. I had options and a backup. I understand others might do such jobs temporarily to sort bills.

Hear me, the more skilled you are the more your earning potential increases. This is why you need to invest in yourself. Invest in yourself so you can get out of the trenches as quickly as possible.
