Gossip is a poison that spreads quickly.

Don't let it infect you.

When you hear it brewing, walk away.

Because when you participate in gossip (even passively)

…you become complicit.

Gossip is magnetic:

- It provides a false sense of belonging.
- It gives a temporary boost of self-esteem.
- It fosters a feeling of power.

And comes with many dangers:

❌ Negativity impacts your mindset.
❌ It puts your reputation at risk.
❌ It erodes trust.

Here are 4 ways to effectively ‘walk away’:

1/ Do not engage
↳ Politely excuse yourself or redirect the conversation

2/ Stick to facts and ideas
↳ Avoid discussing people if it means criticizing

2/ Lead by example:
↳ Walking away sends a message about your integrity

4/ Address it head on (the most courageous option):
↳ Speak directly to the gossiper.

Remember:

Don’t be a follower.

Choose empathy over gossip.

Build trust, not drama.

It's tempting to chase the next big thing.

Constantly flitting between opportunities
↳ Always searching for the perceived greener grass

Focusing solely on immediate gains
↳ Instead of nurturing professional growth

Ignoring your inner development
↳ Hoping that success will simply land on you

But what if,

instead of constantly pursuing butterflies,

we focused on cultivating a career garden?

Nourishing our own fertile ground,

where opportunities blossom organically.

6 Ways To Build Your Career Garden:

1. Plant Seeds Of Knowledge:
↳ Invest in skills that directly support your goals.

2. Nurture Your Network:
↳ Your connections are the pathways to opportunities.

3. Cultivate Your Reputation:
↳ Be recognized for your positive contributions.

4. Water Your Growth:
↳ Embrace challenging assignments.

5. Help Others Grow:
↳ Share your knowledge and support those around you.

6. Tend To Your Well-Being:
↳ Prioritize your physical and mental health.

When you invest in your career garden,

The butterflies will be naturally attracted to it.

And when they do,

They'll find a thriving ecosystem to flourish in.

Remember:

A well-tended career garden is resilient against setbacks.

It will allow you to not only establish a strong foundation.

But also to recover and grow even stronger.

People don’t leave bad jobs.

They leave bad bosses.

And if you have found it already,

Cherish that relationship.

The best managers are those who fight for you

(behind the scenes).

And not always those who give you public praise.

Because when support is more subtle,

It can translate into stronger outcomes for you.

7 Ways Your Manager Is Fighting for You

(and You Might Not Even Know It)

Inspired by the talented Dora Vanourek:

1. They Shield You from Unnecessary Drama
↳ A good manager absorbs pressure from above
↳ Deliver exceptional work, let your manager do the rest

2. They Advocate for Your Development
↳ Even if it means you might eventually leave
↳ Share your aspirations, never assume they are known

3. They Give You Credit Where It's Due
↳ They know your success reflects well on them
↳ Make it easy for your manager to advocate for you

4. They Fight for Resources You Need
↳ A bigger budget, more staff, better equipment…
↳ Don’t shy away from telling them what you need

5. They Have Difficult Conversations with You:
↳ They tell you the truth, even if it's uncomfortable
↳ Do the same for them. They will appreciate it

6. They Defend You in Your Absence:
↳ They stand up for you when you're not around
↳ Give them your back and protect their reputation

7. They Offer Flexibility:
↳ They understand you have a life outside of work
↳ Share with them what matters to you in life

Which one of these is more powerful?

Let me know in the comments👇

Our careers are not set in stone.

It's okay to start over.

And it’s never too late.

When I switched from Sales to Marketing

…It was not easy.

It meant starting from scratch.

Here are the steps I took:

Step 1: I adopted a new mantra
↳ ‘Change can lead to something better’

Step 2: I stopped fearing the unknown
↳ I became excited to explore new possibilities

Step 3: I embraced the learning process
↳ Seeing challenges as opportunities for growth

Step 4: I trusted my instincts
↳ Making time to listen to my gut

And I’d do it all over again.

Remember:

The cost of staying where you are is too high.

Don't let it dictate your life.

Chase your dreams.

You're the creator of your story.
