Something I learned the hard way:\n\nA company will never love you back.\n\nDon’t get too emotionally attached to a role or job.\n\nThe fact is, they can:\n\n↳ Cut budgets.\n↳ Decide to let you go.\n↳ Change direction or values.\n\nMy own corporate experience taught me to, instead:\nAttach yourself to a mission, calling or purpose.\n\n6 ways to do this:\n\n1. Define your personal mission statement\n↳ Write down your “why” and core values.\n↳ Know the impact you want to create.\n\n2. Focus on skills, not titles\n↳ Build adaptable skills for long-term growth.\n↳ Learn what aligns with your true purpose.\n\n3. Diversify your identity\n↳ Don’t let a role define your worth.\n↳ Create a life that reflects your passions.\n\n4. Network with mission-oriented people\n↳ Surround yourself with those who share purpose.\n↳ Build relationships that inspire & energise you.\n\n5. Set career goals tied to purpose\n↳ Choose roles that align with your values.\n↳ Look for growth that moves you closer to impact.\n\n6. Build an asset outside your job\n↳ Grow a personal brand aligned with your calling.\n↳ Start projects that showcase your expertise.\n\nYes, show up enthusiastically & authentically,\nBut loyalty should be to yourself & your values first.\n\nRemember:\n\n- Jobs are temporary.\n- Purpose is permanent.\n\nYour company has a backup plan.
