In honor of #thecrownact passing in the U.S. House of Representatives on Friday, I wanted to share this headshot I had taken several years ago with my natural hair!
At the time these photos were taken, I was too scared to post them because of fears that my afro wouldn’t be seen as “professional.”
There was a time I would *never* wear my 4c hair out and in it’s natural state.
I no longer fear hair discrimination. I live in a state where the Crown Act is law 👩🏾⚖️ and soon we will see the day when race-based hair discrimination is federally protected in the U.S.
Thank you to the hard work and efforts of folks like Adjoa B. Asamoah ❤️ for helping us to legalize Black hair !!
