You feel it slipping and don't know how to stop it.
Your first thought is "maybe we're just not compatible."

Compatibility isn't what you think it is.

You're not looking for someone you'll never disagree or fight with, or that meets all your needs. That's the fantasy that keeps people bouncing between relationships wondering why nothing works.

The couples who last have learned something that most couples never do. They learned how to fully own their side and shift what they contribute to the cycle instead of blaming their partner or deciding it doesn't work.

If you want a relationship that can handle real intimacy without someone bailing when it gets hard, here's what you need to get good at:

1. Name the actual cycle you're stuck in

↳ Not "we don't communicate" or "we're just different." Get specific, go deep. You can't change what you can't see.

↳When I feel disconnected, I pursue. When you feel pursued, you hear criticism and withdraw. When you withdraw, I pursue harder. We're both protecting ourselves and creating exactly what we're afraid of.

2. Own your part in keeping it alive

↳ Your partner isn't doing something to you. You're both feeding a dynamic neither of you wants. Stop waiting for your partner to fix their side and take responsibility for yours.

↳ What's your move in the dance? Where does your nervous system go when you feel unsafe? What are you protecting by staying in this pattern?

3. Shift what you're contributing to the pattern

↳ This is where most couples get stuck. They see the cycle, they own their part, but they keep doing the same thing.

↳ Real change means you do the work so you are less triggerable, you show up differently when you get triggered, and learn how to repair better after. What are you actually doing differently?

The relationship that lasts is where the partners fully own themselves and are committed to changing their side of the dynamic instead of wondering if they picked wrong.

That's what builds a sacred union. You co-create something that gets stronger because you both keep evolving. And you are patient if you partner moves a little slower than you. You learn to lead with love.
