Rotten friends/bosses/co-workers and worst of all family leads to rotten days, weeks, years, lives ….

Listen to me, please keep negativity away from you, obviously if it’s close family you can’t fully cut it out but you can limit the time you allocate to them…

if it’s random people, light weight friends, get rid of that energy, get out of the way, “don’t let it touch your skin” cause you’ll get rotten .. like these oranges 🍊
Leaders who care about their employees and work for their employees rather than thinking that their employees work for them will disproportionately attract people that are hard-working and want to work for them.

The best leaders and CEOs are empathetic.

Why? They understand that it’s about more than being a caring person, it’s about taking your understanding of another person or group of people and using it to create a win-win scenario.

It’s also important to balance empathy with letting people learn things on their own, especially in a business context.

For example, when two of my employees have a disagreement or conflict, I might intuitively know the answers to what would improve or fix the situation. That being said, I still want to give them the opportunity to figure it out for themselves.

Actions over everything. We as humans are really good at “talking” / strategizing / thinking aka saying what we are “going” to do, which is important to a degree -

But there’s so much opportunity to execute fast - I’ve admired and observed so many doers in business, and I want this community to really consider this point!

Tag someone you admire for what they do

If you have trouble structuring your business, if you go through rounds of hiring and firing, read this:

If you have trouble finding the “right” team members…the problem may be you. This may be tough to accept but I know good leaders can handle the truth.

I’m not trying to be impractical, but as I said before, good leaders don’t cast judgment on their employees.

Good leaders don’t yell and scream or try to watch their employees’ every move. Good leaders are supportive and ask how they can help.

Instead of being upset that their employees are drowning, they teach them how to swim.

It’s time we change the conversation 💛
Great marketing won't fix a bad product
Start by helping one person ❤️
Everyone stressing to make the “perfect call”

There’s no perfect call in life.. just go with shit and “taste it” aka learn from it and adjust

This goes for 33, 44, 55, and 66... take a breathe and focus on how great it is to even have decisions to make ♥️♥️♥️🎯
10 things I admire over skill:

Compassion
Sympathy
Empathy
Kindness
Gratitude
Humility
Patience
Self awareness
Being the “bigger person”
Sincerity

What other qualities do you admire?
Companies need to allow their employees more breathing room and more opportunities to make themselves happy.

Too many bosses and companies act in fear and try to box in and too many employees act in fear as well and it’s on the bosses to address that.

No one is perfect, no organization is perfect, but intent must be in place to allow for more happiness.

LinkedIn - What are your thoughts on this?
Of course it's hard... that's why you want it!

When you're a leader, you work for your team.

They don't work for you.

Things like “hustle”, work ethic, or networking are only potential gateways to fulfillment and happiness.

Ultimately… at the end of the day… this is one big game doing it YOUR way :) If you’re enjoying yourself and you’re not doing at anyone else’s expense, I’m so excited for you - regardless of how you get “there.”

Soft-skills are the emerging superpowers of business 💜

Tag someone who needs to hear this!
Happiness leads to effectiveness in business and life.

Let me ask you this - what good is a high return if you're not happy?

Don't get caught up in escapism or fixing superficial things, you need to fix the well, not just the sink.

People spend money on all sorts of things like material things, but they don't want to spend money on their own happiness.

If you're ready to move on to the next thing, don't hold on to the past. Make that mental switch and go for it.

Once people have a good relationship with time, things will get really really good!

Seeing too many 22 year olds thinking they have to have their career “figured out” … too many 30 year olds freaking out like it’s too late … too many 40+ year olds thinking it’s over …

Build your relationship with time, and watch your happiness explode
Most new managers think that becoming a manager is the “graduation.”

Truth is, it’s the reverse.

Leaders work for their employees.

That means you have to understand what your employees want at a deep level. You have to be constantly adapting to their needs and what they want from the organization.

When you go from being someone who “executes” to someone who’s managing a team, you go from trading on IQ to trading on EQ.

You go from doing the actual work to listening to employees, catering to what they want, taking the blame, and being the bigger person.

When you’re truly happy, you’re excited to see other people succeed and get promoted.

Because you know the world is abundant.

Their win isn’t coming out of your “pocket” !!
Be grateful that you even have a chance!

My greatest fear is to create fear in my companies.

Employees that work from a place of fear cause so much distrust and miscommunication that ultimately hurts everyone involved.

Fear needs to be eliminated from the workplace.

If I could wish anyone anything, besides health, it would be emotional intelligence. It is the skill of life.
Smile...go to the mirror and smile...be grateful what you have,
and be patient for what you’re looking for.
I really appreciate kindness, it’s by far the most admirable trait in business and life

Great leaders understand that they work for their employees, not the other way around ;)

I started VaynerMedia at 34 years old in someone else's conference room, because we had no money for rent.

It was a ton of risk by normal standards when somebody reads it on paper.

But, not necessarily for me, it just felt like progression.

Society puts a lot of pressure on people in their 20s to “figure out” their lives without understanding how long life really is.

Many young people today will end up living beyond 100 years old — with most of those years being good, healthy years.

That means if you’re under 30, you’ve got about 60-70 more years of execution left.

You're not lost, you're just early in the process.

Don’t worry about other peoples dreams …

worry about what yours actually are ...

simplicity is a strength ❤️❤️❤️

can’t wait to see you all try to achieve them 💛💛💛💛

If you see a leader going kind when the going gets tough, you've got the right leader.
Posting this again because people over estimate short term feedback/results and under estimate patience and experience and how long the journey is. Patience, kindness, and empathy is key.

Somebody asked me once, “What’s the ROI of not caring what people think?”

I told her, “Speed.“

When you finally stop worrying about other people’s opinions, you start executing faster... which means you go on offense and get more done in business and in your career.

And most importantly... you start to get real happy.

Listening to other people is important, but dwelling on their opinions and letting them affect you at a deep level isn't a winning move.

Find something you love doing so much that the process of doing it makes you happy - not just the end result of whatever you're trying to achieve.

Maybe the most important conversation you can have with people who say that are “negative”

Fear is such a tough thing and often it leads to “negative behavior” you’re not a bad person, you have fear in you and that can be addressed, we love ❤️ you, now go love yourself

Always surround yourself with people who support you.

Support paired with accountability is always a winning formula.

We often think of empathy and compassion as soft skills, but in reality, they're critical for building a successful business...

Stop thinking of empathy as a weakness and start seeing it as a powerful tool for growth.
Perfectionism is just a disguise. Too often, it stops creatives from being creative.

This week, let go of fear. Ideate, then execute

Self-Awareness is so key 🔑

The reason many don’t give good “advice” to you is because they don’t know you.

The question is, do you know yourself and the bigger question is are you “brave enough” to be yourself?

That last part is the game!

Leaders, it’s time to understand this.
Building culture is easy.

As long as you’re willing to fire people who make others miserable.

So many founders and CEOs say they value culture, yet “look the other way” when their top performing employee acts like a jerk to everyone else. If you’re doing this, you’re sending a very, very clear message to your team on what you really believe.

Everyone in executive positions in business or HR needs to watch video carefully:
Too many people are greatly underestimating the power of kindness.

Why? I think it’s because people have this idea that being nice somehow makes you weak.

They’re afraid that if they don’t bring down the hammer, people won’t respect them or they’ll get taken advantage of.

I want to change that idea.

Candor is not an excuse not to be kind…and being kind doesn’t prevent you from being an effective leader.

Anyone lucky enough to love the process more than the “goal“ has already won.
This is something more CEOs need to be aware of and deal with.

Open door policies are amazing but we’ve got to take it one step further and really get employees to understand that meeting 1 on 1 to talk about a challenge they have at home or at work isn’t “too small” for a meeting or a “waste” of time.

Creating a feeling of safety to actually take up an open door policy is super super important

You’re dramatically more capable than you think…

All of you… every single person reading this LinkedIn Post…

You can accomplish more than you think… Period!

Me included… Have the best day of your life!
There is one question I ask in every interview if it's gaining momentum, and if I feel like I may have found a good fit for my team ...

It’s one I need to ask. In fact, at some level it’s the only one I really care about:

“Where do you want your career to go?”

I spend most of my interviews trying to get people comfortable enough to answer that question truthfully should I decide I want to ask it.

I don’t care if the answer is you want to be the CEO of VaynerMedia, or you just want to move a couple of levels up and have great work-life balance. I don’t even care if you want to come work for me for two years, suck up all my IP, and then go somewhere to start your own agency.

I really don’t. Truly. Whatever your agenda is, I’m fine with it.

I just want to know what it is, so I can help us get there.

You and me.

I want to keep people in my ecosystem for as long as possible, because once I like working with you, I want to work with you forever.

And I know the best way to keep you close is to deliver on what you want, so the faster I can get that insight the better.

Wish more managers and leaders understood that giving value and being “nice“ is practical!
I have so much love ❤️ for so many of you, so many people could use the concept of looking for happiness over $$$ success and if you listen carefully this answers it. Too many don’t realize that standing on their own 2 feet is the answer to less anxiety and more happiness. Don’t value “things” value your ability to go through the process on your own terms ❤️❤️❤️💗🖤
We can change the conversations we have about business success.

I see it more like “art” 🖼 it’s about the process of making it more than how much you sell it for.

There’s so much more happiness to be had if you’re in it for the “process” more than the accolades and the $$$ and stuff that comes with it, it’s also healthier and enjoyable 💜
