This is a story about the famous trap called COMFORT ZONE.
There are two rats. Let me name them Mike and Jerry.
Both were given a jar filled with grain. Mike was too happy to find so much food around him. In a few days’ time, he reached the bottom of the jar. Now he is trapped.
Jerry was also happy but he enjoys hunting food around him. So he eats halfway and leaves.
The same happens in our corporate world.
In some companies, the work is so comforting but there is no personal development. People are stuck in outdated technologies/ tools. There will be a point they want to leave but they could not because they also become outdated over time.
On the other hand, there are some places work is overwhelming. There are so much of new things to learn. Of course, the work will not be easy but in long run, this is the way to survival.
So the moral is if the work is so comforting, please leave before too late. This story I read this on LinkedIn a few weeks back and thought to write it in my own words for the company analogy which came to my mind.
